Simplex Ultra vs Legend - Nokta Detectors

I did some side-by-side comparisons in this video of the Nokta Simplex Ultra and the Nokta Legend. These are target-for-target comparisons.

Rule # 1 cover your holes. I've been detecting for 5 yrs and learned from watching others with more experience than me that you should cover what ever hole you make, children or animals could get hurt. It's happened also to me that I can't detect in parks because of the negligence of others. That's for sharing and advising others.

Great comparison video Stephen! Sorry to hear that you lost your permission. Someone has been doing that down here where I live . At the Beach, there is a grassy area, and they dig big holes and do not cover them. It's a shame! Hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving, God bless!

Thanks for the video. It is very helpful to see the comparisons in a real test. I am a newbie to the hobby. I got a cheap detector off the ole amazone. It got me looking at old maps in my area and learning more of the history of the area. Mostly practicing in my yard and family members yards. Finding more trash than treasures, but its the thrill of what could be there. I was looking more at the legend to upgrade to a better detector. A detector with better consistent signals. I am also learning how to cover the holes back up better. Rather do a bad job of that on my own property. Thanks again for the videos. Treat others as you want to be treated is a great way to live.

I feel ya Man. I been in the same boat now for a few yrs losing public land I detected on for yrs for someone to ruin it for me and others for not filling in there holes and or leaving bad holes. Sorry that this is happening to a lot of us old timers that care enough about the hobby and the land..

Sorry that you lost your permission. To be honest, a lot of local detectorists have coveted that location for years. I was glad to see that someone had finally gotten the chance. I hunted a local swimming beach and noticed the same problem. Open holes everywhere. You could clearly see drag marks in the sand, and they had obviously cherry picked good signals. I found few coins, only one pulltab, and a handful of screw caps. However, I also found 7 earrings, 2 charms, and some other broken bits of jewelry, so they missed a lot. Lesson learned for all: Get permission and fill in holes.

That is true. Yeah I’m hoping to get out to one of the local lake beaches around new years and do some beach detecting. Might even put on my waders. Chris thinks I’m crazy, but I’m itching to get back in the water 😂

I need to get me a good water detector. I use a Teknetics T2, but it isn't waterproof. Watching your Nokta videos, you almost have me sold on one or the other .

Sometimes, it's the newbies who just wistfully go out and detect without research on the knowledge of metal detecting etiquette. However, it can be a chancer who knows the rules and just decides it doesn't apply to them on a given day. I once got gripped by a farmer when I asked him for permission to go in his land, but, he instantly went on the attack for holes that were dug on his land by someone else on a field I have never been on. So, I got no permission 😒 but what I did get was a low-level bollocking for the jerk who detected on the farmers land without his permission... yeah 😂 Thanks again for producing another video and sharing the finds 👍

Great video as always Stephen. You mentioned that her son told the guy to never come back and she assumed you were him. Any hope of contacting her son? Obviously he would then know you weren't the same one he ran off. Hate that some individuals always ruin it for the ones out there doing everything right. I've seen it happen over and over again sadly.

That's pretty sad about the loss of a permission, but it it only takes one turd in the punchbowl to ruin a good thing. It happens more than you think. Please use detecting code of conduct when detecting. Some people just don't care and those people can ruin the hobby.

I hate that loosing the permission. Same with people hunting and fishing without permission or not cleaning up after themselves. That has cost me places also. If people will show respect, ask permission, fill in holes and clean up after themselves it would make it easier for everyone. Don’t worry you will find that makes great place.

I suggest getting permission slips printed and have the owner date and sign it in case the owner's rep or relative comes by.

Question are you still using the nokta waterproof headphones when you water detect and can the headphones volume be adjusted on the legend as well . And is the headphones cable long enough for easy swinging. ? Thanks

Yes, I still use those headphones when water hunting. The volume can be adjusted on the Legend. And yes the length of the cable is good. I plan to get back in the water (with waders) in the next few weeks.

That’s got to be the worst feeling when you’ve lost the owner’s trust, due to some idiot who didn’t use the proper metal detecting etiquette. I would be livid. It’s hard to explain yourself to the owner when you’re the only one she’s seen out there and never around when the idiot is there. But enough about that. Great video comparison Sir. So the multi on the Legend doesn’t id the numbers as the simplex but when you run it on single frequency does the VDI go up

No, the VDI on the Legend is 0-60 while the VDI on the Simplex is 0-99. No matter what mode they are in. Great question.

@rickvann3489 well, it all depends how much you really want the Deus 2. I know several people who own one, and they love it. It is a lot of money, but if you are willing to pay it, I won’t deter you from that. I love the Legend, and I’ve never done a target-for-target test between it and a Deus 2. Would be interesting to see though.

The Simplex Ultra is an excellent machine. Very simple to use, yet advanced enough that experienced detectorists love to use it. It is waterproof to 15 feet, which would allow you to get in popular swimming areas and find those lost jewels and coins.

I hate to say it but a lot of the problem started when social media started showing everybody what they could find. Now everybody and their sister wants to go out and metal detect and they don't know how to gain permission they just assume every place is available to metal detect and they start digging holes to China. I've been doing this since 1978 and ever since the KZbin video started popping up everybody wanted their popularity or guess what everybody watching your channel wants that popularity too or at least most of them the younger crowd they want that gold nugget so to speak. Metal detecting was a whole lot better before all these videos start coming out as far as where to go and all the good things to find and such. And I'm not trying to be negative I'm just saying that's when I started seeing a decline in people having respect for property and such.

I can agree with that in a way. I want people to get into the hobby, and education is so important. But it goes back to those wanting the “big find” regardless of learning the basics and ethics of the hobby. Happy digging.
