Simplex VS Vanquish Depth Test Silver Mercury Dime | Stock Search Coil Coin Testing

SIMPLEX VS VANQUISH WHO WINS? This is NOT a video to say one of these detectors is better than the other, this is just an "unofficial" depth test using a silver dime comparing the Nokta Makro Simplex VS Minelab Vanquish 440 Metal Detector.
We test this silver coin flat at two different depths. We see how sensitivity & EMI effects the detectors readings plus we try two different modes on each detector.
RUNNING SIMPLEX VERSION 2.78 PREVIOUS VERSIONS MAY EFFECT RESULTS! I HAVE HEARD 2.77 GOES DEEPER, HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT?
Stock Simplex+ 11" x 11" Search Coil VS Stock Vanquish 10" x 7" Search Coil
These are both awesome detectors and I will let you make your own conclusion as to who won this one! Your ground conditions may vary which could sway the results. This is a simple test in my soil down in Florida.
These tests were done in moderate soil on land, I believe if this same test was done at the beach in salt water the Vanquish would have the upper hand.
We try to give each Metal Detector a fair chance to read the silver mercury dime under the ground.
Remember everyone, depth is not everything. Both of these detectors have their unique strengths and weaknesses. The Vanquish is a KILLER on the beach, a good detector to get if you mainly detect on the beach and can not afford or do not want to buy an equinox I like to call the vanquish the "baby nox" - The Simplex is a strong, durable, waterproof metal detector that does an awesome job on land, has a very fast processing speed and many beneficial features such as a rechargeable battery, back light, vibrate feature, multiple tone sets & more.

I’m a beginner, so I actually bought an Amazon brand first, and then I bought a Garrett. I returned both because they were not what I expected. They just kept beeping on the beach, wet sand. Once I finally bought the Vanquish 440, I never turned back. This thing did not not beep at all on the beach unless it found something. Only beeped twice on beach for 2 hrs of detecting, and both times, there was something there. A quarter and a silver bracelet. The other detectors were beeping every 3-4 minutes and nothing there. I love a detector that doesn’t beep much! Sounds crazy but that’s a good thing.

So as others mentioned you need to ground balance the simplex before you use it. But I can honestly say that I tested the Simplex in 2.78 version vs 2.77 version and the difference was about 2 inches in my air test! Park 2 in 2.78 is good but has very little depth to it. I got 11' in park 1 in my air test with settings wide open on a silver dime in 2.77 as opposed to 8-9 in 2.78. The downside is the more unstable VDI numbers and chatter in 2.77 so its a personal choice on which you prefer.

I would like to try version 2.77 some day! Maybe I could do another test like this w 2.77 but ground balance this time haha. I remember after filming I did go out and try to ground balance and I think it was something like 92 or 94 from the stock 90GB so it might have helped out a little. I bet 2.77 would hit it better I even heard paystreak superfreak talking about that in one of his older videos. To be fair I have been hunting mostly modern ground recently so I think 2.78 probably suits me better, I agree with you about park 2 version 2.78 the recovery speed is awesome!

Would have dug with either machine at 7in....prob pass with the Simplex at 9, depends on how the hunt went before I got to that spot. Possibly dug with the vanquish at 9. I normally run park 1 , one bar under max sensitivity, and ground balance. I may try max sensitivity next time I go. See if my hunt improves. Thanks for posting.

Is the Vanquish 440 really an equal to the Simplex considering the coil size difference. Honestly I think you should be comparing the Vanquish 540 with its 12 inch coil to the Simplex. Very similar sized coils then but still the Simplex has more adjustment options and retrieval speeds. But going on your test I think the 540 would out perform depth wise against the simplex ; at least in your test there. Other soil conditions could change that. The biggest issue with the Vanquish series is you can't adjust the retrieval speeds at all. Its all preset in the modes you select ! And they are set fairly low . You have to swing slow with a Vanquish ! Did you think to set the Simplex at a slower retrieval speed ??

Hey there, great Video. For anyone deciding to go with minelab, just give the extra $65 and get the 440! (The Built in pin pointer alone is worth the extra $, plus you get a few extra options & accessories) It’s not worth to get the 340 because the built in pin pointer on the 440 is “EXTREMELY ACCURATE”!!! It will save you a lot of frustration, Trust me, I tried both. With the 440, you will not dig more then one hole. Also, of course, it’s handy to have the portable pin pointer as well once your down kneeling on the ground. Good luck! Side Note: Amazing detector for Under $300! And you will not be frowned upon as even the Pro’s who give $1000’s on metal detectors still use the 440!!!

You did not ground balance the Simplex so not really a good test of it's abilities. The Simplex needs to be ground balanced to perform at it's best.

From my limited knowledge... I'll say I think the vanquish may have the slight advantage when it comes to giving a strong signal on small gold. it runs higher frequencies which is supposed to be better for finding gold and small objects. But to be fair... never used one in those conditions and can't say it will work for sure.. I do know they have detectors specifically for gold field hunting that might be worth looking into but I'm sure those can get up there in price. Hard choice!

Does the Vanquish have a ground balance option? The Simplex does and for good reason. You did everything right and then DOH! You didn't ground balance, which will affect the outcome. I'm impressed with the Vanquish, nearly got one but decided on the Simplex. I think the Vanquish is easier to use with less chatter and I appreciate your testing it, thanks for the video,,,Garnet

You have a good eye for catching that! I cut out the footage of the ground balance test it was long and stale though I should have left it in anyways. It balanced from 90 to 96 and made very little difference surprisingly. I'll try to improve next round the simplex is still my go to detector and I'm definitely still learning with it so I appreciate you coming by and leaving feedback. 😁

Honestly i believe the simplex would have smacked it better in that area with proper ground balance and or a bit shorter and swifter swing speed, I’ve hit dimes at around 10”-11”, sometimes with no vdi but it registered consistently with mine, pennies deeper, also helps if you walk it 360 with the coil wiggle over the top of the target all the way around.

All I dig with my Vanquish is Rusty Nails. Get them out of the ground it is ok but in the ground it gives a good coin signal

If you get a good signal - change it to all metals mode and check again if it starts making grunts and showing minus numbers it’s usually rusty junk. I just use it in all metals then I hear the grunts instantly and move on

Both are top notch machines. Perhaps the sandy soil gave a little advantage to the Vanquish. Good vid...but probably should have ground balanced the Simplex to be fair. I gotta say the Vanquish has phenomenal target id at depth.

I would say my honest opinion would be I prefer the simplex as an all around machine and I think it will last longer because it's built tough but I prefer the vanquish for the beaches here in FL and I also really like the vanquish tones, think it comes down to preference at the end up the day both really good machines for the price! 👍

Turn off your phone and pin-pointer if it starts to chatter like that or keep them at least 6 feet away and power cycle the vanquish. Camera might even be giving you some interference being that close to it too.

@@TreasureOutdoors 2.76 and 2.77 has the added depth but is a little more unstable than the 2.78, 2.77 has the mute feature, 2.76 does not, basically the 2.78 has the same depth and stability as the 2.67 did but the 2.78 has more features, i own two 2.76’s and personally i really like the little extra depth, if you ever wanted to you can go backwards to the 2.77 for added depth, i say 2.77 so you can also keep the mute function.

I had the 540 for awhile then went back to the Eurotek Pro. The 540 found deep coins I buried, but never really found them out in the iron lettered sites,,I think multi frequency gives to much info and misses what I'm looking for,,maybe its recovery speed and info receiving is poor on those conditions,,where there Eurotek has a very fast recovery speed. Curious if weather you could bury some coins at say 5" to 7"deep and 3"to 5" apart and do recovery and which one unmask better. I'm thinking this will be to the advantage of the Simplex. I'm looking into buying the Simplex,,would like to its potential in recovery and unmasking in those conditions. I know the Eurotek will sniff em out.

Mark I think you are on point with that statement, personally I don't hunt too many iron infested sites but when I do I can definitely feel the vanquish struggling, I do believe the simplex has a faster processing speed (at least it feels like it) and I have a better time with it in the trash than the vanquish. Like you said the vanquish is strong when there is not a lot of other targets around (clean ground) works great on the beach for me but seems to struggle in the iron & trash. I have never personally used or heard of the Eurotek but for the price the simplex is honestly hard to beat as a complete package. However I think the simplex really shines with the additional SP24 coil. I will try to get out there and give it another test in the near future, you are right about target separation being equally if not more important than depth in some cases!

My aunt bought a eurotek I hated it. I'd find a target with my deus or 800 and the eurotek would be giving crazy signals or no signal at all on the target. That was hunting in high trash area ghost town.

Seen a lot of minelab live digs pulling nails and iron and I can mention 2 popular metal detecting vid poters that were fooled by the plex's ability to separated non & ferrous metals...I would say hands down the vanquish is a relic beast, but I run the plex living in the shadows of 2 steel mills....and not dig up all the iron here.

Vanquish kills the Simplex even with a much smaller coil, to all the people saying the Simplex would work better with a ground balance yes, it might perform slightly better, but there was no reaction from the ground, it wasn't out of balance. The Vanquish is simply a better performing detector on deep targets with far more stable target ID's, why? Multi-IQ is far better than old single frequency technology from 10+ years ago, the Vanquish doesn't even need a ground balance. I hope the Legend is a vast improvement over the Simplex. The Simplex has all the bells and whistles of a great machine, just not the performance when it comes to deeper targets, or even mid depth targets, it's target ID lets it down.

Vanquish got it. I do not own a vanquish though ATM , I just got the simplex the other day to replace my Ace 400. So how do you like the Simplex ? and which is your go to machine vanquish 440 or simplex

I would say I choose simplex more when I am land hunting and vanquish more when I am out at the beach. Simplex is a great upgrade, I had ace 200 and upgraded to simplex also 👍 I really like the simplex a lot better when using the smaller SP24 coil but everyone has their own preference! Have you got a chance to use the simplex yet?

I believe it and saw that Deus 2 looks like a champ and I think eventually in a couple months I'll downsize the detector arsenal a little bit and either grab a D1 or d2 either that or I'll try out a pulse induction machine

vanquish absolutely winner, can you make video with water tests both of them... you are too much on the target, you need to use real life passing through... if you get then its ok, if not then not detected..
