What about tax that is owed to the government? They require installment payments throughout the year (every quarter). Do I substract that from the cash/assets as it's a debt/payment owed?

If I save some money and buy a shop on installments. Since it's my savings invested in shop and I'm Saheb e Nisab alhamdo lillah so I will calculate zakat on the amounts of instalments paid My objective is to rent out this shop for income So when the installments are completed and the shop is rented out THEN I will count the rent amount to zakatable amounts and pay 2.5 on that and the shop will NOT be counted for zakat coz it's an assest which is generating revenue like a business Kindly confirm my understanding and guide me if I'm misunderstood

If someone makes around $40-50k a year but does not save a lot money. Say 1-5k? Is that person obligated to pay zakat on the earned income or the saved amount. Zakat has been the most confusing pillar for me!

Pay zakaat on what amount you have, on the due date.

You dont give zakat on good or stock in the shop you have not sold..the mufti sahib have got it wrong..the urdu word for maal is referring to money not goods..when you have sold the good or stock after 12 months you give zakat.

Almost every speaker speaks about holding wealth for ONE year... This creates confusion Holding wealth for ONE year is a condition to be a Saheb e Nisab for the first time. If his wealth never goes to ZERO then no need of aging wealth for ONE year. For a continued zakat payer, the zakatable wealth (equal or above 612.15 grams silver) will be calculated on the accumulated wealth on the day of calculation even if it is received a day before
