Everything almost works perfect so far. Creates users, logs them in. If no user found it will send a toast to create one. But, when logged in I cannot sign out. I have to clear the data in the setting in order to get back to the MainActivity. I forgot to add I did not create a login activity, I simply wrote the code within the MainActivity. Anyone else with same problem? Edit: Apparently I win "dummy" of the year award. I never finished the end of the video where he fixes it lol.

perfect tutorial , thank u so much. 1) Question !! - why firebaseAuth.getCurrentUser() != null ? - this will straight open up the profile activity whenever u click the app instead of login or registering your account - i have removed it in order to log in my account first before getting into the app

Does firebase have sessions? So that way if the user is inactive in the app for x amount of time, the session can end and the user will be logged out?

Hi, thanks for vid, could you explain when this block of code is executed? // ProfileActivity class -> onCreate if(firebaseAuth.getCurrentUser() == null){ finish(); startActivity(new Intent(this, LoginActivity.class)); } It means you are not logged in and are in a profile activity -> like deleting an account while logged in?

Do you test your code for negative scenarios? 1. Login with a non existant user credential? 2. Registering with an already existing email? I feel that your style of writing is resembling how most Indian programmers write code. You are rushing to get the prototype working without focus on completion of code or managing the unusual but probable case. A generic other question about Firebase Auth is - can we restrict one user credential to be logged in only via one device and automatically logout the user from the previously signed in devices? And the opposite of that, is if possible to be logged in via multiple devices at the same time and be able to identify those sessions individually.

Hello akash , just check whether the ids for buttons, edit text and text views are same in xml and java files . while checking keep note of the capital and small letters.

hi! first of all the tutorial was truly amazing and to the point. my question is if i want users to create an account by providing email and password and then redirect to the signin screen to again enter email and password and succesfully login to the userprofile just like it happens in other social media applications here when our user creates and account. they are directly redirected towards the user profile how can we let our users, first go to the signin page and then from there to the user profile page even i changed my code to and added signin.class in the intent from the signup page but it stills redirect to the userprofile because of i guess the following code in the signin class if (firebaseAuth.getCurrentUser() != null) { finish(); startActivity(new Intent(Signin.this, UserProfile.class)); }

so first you should do firebaseAuth.signOut(); then add the intent to go to the signin page

Is there any reason why we the application here has 2 separate activities for login and registration. Can't we do it in the same activity if the only username and password are needed for registration? We just need to include both the method that handles login and registration in the same class. +Sidharth Sreekumar but for registration we call create user method and login we have signin method.. both methods are different.. so you can do it in the same activity with an additional input to detecr whether it is login or registration

In the mainactivity.java you probably forgot to write the onclick method or you wrote it incorrectly.

The worst part of this is that new android versions in the avd don't have google play store installed so i can't update google ad services to test the app. I have to export the app and install it to my phone just to test it. :/ Thanks for the convenience google. wouldn't need to update apps on the avd or anything *rolls eyes*
