[Credit Tip 3] Check your credit report a minimum of every 3 months!
I know you have a lot to do every day and your credit is usually the last thing on your mind, that is until you need to apply for credit…
That's when you start to worry. What if there is something in there or what if my scores are not good?
Yes, you get a free credit report annually from each of the bureaus and you probably do that. But what about the rest of the year?
TIPS: You need to be checking it more and on a regular basis. Check your credit report every 3-6 months at a minimum. Why?
First, how about identity theft? It's more common now than a shooting star or Friday the 13th.
If you’ve worked hard to rebuild and maintain your credit, it can be devastating to see that go down the drain with inaccurate or derogatory reporting information.
Making sure your credit report is accurate falls in your lap. The credit bureaus simply report the data given to them and pretend they’re perfect, but they make mistakes and credit reports are used as collection tools or for fraud every day.
You must be vigilant and protect your credit, because no one else will!
Incorrect items on your report, incomplete information, old debts - they can all rear their ugly heads and push your scores down.
By checking your credit report at a minimum of quarterly, you can stay on top of accuracy or correct items as they appear.
Ultimately, it’s important to be proactive. Your credit report tells the world about your ability to manage money and is the key to living the lifestyle you deserve.
It should remain accurate and protected.
Now rajiv, go check your credit!
