my approach is fine over the long term, most important thing is to get started and build your income over time to continue compounding as time goes on. I did put in 100 grand years back and kept reinvesting, well diverse, now it's value over five hundred k and increasing.

I feel attacked 😂 working on simplifying my 20+ funds in my retirement account... This setup has been good to me but ive realized if I'm just going to compare myself to the S&P every year, i might as well be *in* the S&P and not risk falling behind

Our simple reason for keeping our retirement money in 4 different locations (Vanguard, Fidelity, my 401k, and my wife's 401k) is to minimize the risk of something happens to one of them. Yes it is cumbersome to manage, but with often data breaches in financial institutions, we don't sleep well with all our eggs in one basket 😅

I'm 32 years old and lost my dad about six months ago. I'll be receiving some money soon. Should I invest in stocks for a few years while attending business school and then move into rental properties, or would it be smarter to start with real estate investing right away?
@Frankweily3 ай бұрын
I agree, investing with the help of an advisor set me up for life. Retired with about $1.6m in stock portfolio only. I max out my 401k and have few properties. I worked hard everyday as a teacher for 32 years, and my salary was over 100k annually. Supplementing my income with stocks and alternative investments helped me achieve early retirement.
