I prepare my outfits for the week Sunday evening. Then I know what I will be wearing and I like what I will be wearing. Meals are planned before going to the grocery store, so no missing ingredients. I always make enough of every dinner so that it feeds the family twice. Fresh one night, left overs the next.

I have made a 4-week menu that rotates. That way, you won't get bored so easily. For each week, all the ingredients needed are listed, which makes grocery shopping easier. If a dish doesn't suit because it takes too long to prepare or you get tired of it, you just update the menu. Making the shopping list according to where the goods are located, is of course, a fact. 😉🇸🇪

I'm an artist; and the number of art supplies that I own is far greater than everything else that I own. The best decision I ever made was to buy property with a separate building to use as my studio. If I need to leave samples sitting out, or artwork to dry, or a tray of tools for a quick start the next morning, I can and it doesn't affect the tidiness of my living space at all! Minimalist living space, organized but active art studio! and separating life and work has a lot of other benefits too. Thanks for the tips Jenny!

We are significantly older than you two, lifelong artists/writers. Strangely enough, though we are home almost all the time, we (together 32 years after meeting at an art colony) have to "carve out" our free time rather than our chores, because with art, the work is seldom finished, and it's always a preoccupation. (I guess we're basically scheduling our fun, since work can be so consuming.) The pandemic elbowed us into a few new pleasure-habits that persist such as Sunday afternoon movie (streaming) matinées, hour-long weekday lunches and conversations, and an ongoing card game that has turned out to be our most lighthearted time. (Partial list!) Basically, it's the opposite of scheduling chores, but in a way it's the same idea! I'm a new subscriber and (Finnish friends and numerous visits) enjoy your Scandinavian aesthetic and take on things, and I love the houses David features.

Just adding thought about how simple living has added so much joy to my life. Instead of chasing more money to buy more things I’ve found other rich rewards: purpose and meaning and time for loved ones. Less is truly more!

Hi Jenny love the colour of the sweater. My parents are in the middle of a divorce after 30 yrs of marriage. My mom is really toxic person but at the same time I feel sorry for her. I'm so depressed and conflicted. Anyway just wanted to say thanks, your videos are always lovely to watch. Hope I can have a peaceful life in this lifetime.

I'm all for streamlining the mundane to make time for more of what I love. Great video! Here's what the video said: 1. Sharing the same online calendar w/ family 2. Themed days, which sounds like task-batching at the day level 3. Turn off notifications 4. Eat the same thing every day 5. grocery list as a to-do in notes app, organized by store's layout 6. Eliminate need to tidy by putting things back immediately

The messiest places in my house is my kitchen, I try to always keep my counter place free. But sometimes its hard. I also have a lot of laundry that needs folding but in general i keep it pretty tidy. If its super messy I take time in the evening to tidy my living room, bring glasses to the kitchen ect. I really hate it when I have to clean all the time, even with a cat. Then you still need to clean quite a bit. I learned from you that its better to put stuff away and it really helped. Jenny you are a god send with the tips you give

I'm so amazed! I have a "clothes chair" as in I throw all the worn clothes on there that are not so dirty ... not efficient at all...and I have loads of book piles on the floor because the bookcabinets are full...terrible I know

@@ninah2619 I used to have “the chair” for years, it was so messy and one thing I’ve done that has made all the difference is, I’ve put a simple white Ikea clothing rack into my bedroom and I hang my daily clothes in the evening. That way I can still re-wear anything that is remotely clean and it looks very neat. 😁

Apart from 1 and 4 I employ all the other strategies - even though I no longer do paid work (and therefore have the time to be disorganised) these routines still have benefits.

When I heard David talk about his grocery list on the podcast ages ago, I was like: "Is this how everyone who has worked in a grocery store organizes their shopping?" Because: ME TOO, and I haven't worked in grocery since I was 19 (I'm 30 now). Some things never leave us.

I don’t understand the “don’t tidy”. When are you vacuuming, washing the floor, ironing? I always leave it for weekend because I don’t have time to do it during weekdays. But the rest…I totally agree. No piling up things. No dirty stains in kitchen or bathroom. Cleaning it every day a bit so it never become too messy.

I never have to tidy either. Only touch things once! We put it back in its home after we're done using it. Now, when the grandchildren visit, that's another story!

The clothes go on the floor at night. In the morning I put them where they go. My solution for the clothes to be worn again is to hang them backwards on the rod. That way I know they need to be washed next time. Kathy B

We are also very tidy persons, things just go back to were they belong. But I have this hair tie 'problem', I leave them everywhere as back up and never find them again 😄 and my boyfriend hangs his sport clothes to dry around the apartment before they go in the laundry basket.
