8 years later and you're still indirectly aiding students. Thank you Mr. McLogan, you seem like a wonderful instructor

One of my students suggested to mic the audience. I'm not sure that its the best idea, but it could be entertaining.

There are flaws on your teaching but still taught me the concept of conjugate (from the word that defines marriage so it means one has to be opposite sex of the other so if the denominator has negative sign the conjugate must be positive thus in this case it's - 1 and +1). Good tutorial video

in the final steps, why does √5 not also change when changing 2/4 to 1/2?
@victorsoto21887 ай бұрын
It looks like the 4 in the denominator should have been 5, ( 2sq of 5 plus 1 over 5). It happens but I like his videos. Peace

why some of your video the square should be conjugate? but this the negative 1 turn to positive 1.

One little mistake. It is just -1 and not -1 ^2. He showed in the example: (x+1)(x-1) == x^2 -1. Not -1^2
@krishnasairaval369111 ай бұрын
the answer will still be the same. he's right. he just expanded it for the students to understand. difference of two squares (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2
@willthomas7950 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand the part to the most left everything else is good. - It would take a long time to understand conjugates and to develop a simplify eye.

Isnt this completely wrong? This kids raised proper questions lol. How can sqrt(5)*sqrt(5) = sqrt(5) as you did in the video, contrary to what you said which was true, that it just leaves us with 5. Secondly, how can two 2s be reduced using just one 4 in the denominator? It can only cut down one 2, and the other 2 remains as a 2.

@@brianmclogan isn't -1 squared actually going to be positive one?
@denisepagaduan5 жыл бұрын
@@andreweroh in this case, we are not squaring -1, we are only squaring 1.
@granth.42993 жыл бұрын
-1² = -1. (-1)² = 1. The parentheses determine whether or not the negative operator is included when evaluating the exponential expression.
