I love your interpretation of this song. The symbolism of him bumping into people. We all have people (mostly family) that want to tell us “What WE should do), which totally discounts what we are doing. They marginalize us, invalidate us, make us feel like we’re losers. We are not losers.

Omg!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃Nostalgia at its finest! This song was in the movie "Cruel Intentions" from 1999. If you haven't seen it, definitely put that on your list! Used to watch that all the time! I can't hear this song without thinking of Cruel Intentions! 🥰🥰🥰 The 90s has the best movies! ❤️ This has actually been on my request list for a while.

This is on my favorite songs of all time playlist. If I had to pick one song that best sums up the '90s for me, it would be this one.

One of my favourite singers of all time! I’ve seen Ashcroft live over 10 times and he’s a great artist. I’m seeing him again this summer…as for the court case over this song he finally won it For the last 22 years, The Verve haven't made a penny from Bitter Sweet Symphony, after forfeiting the royalties to The Rolling Stones. The song was embroiled in a legal battle shortly after its release, as it samples an orchestral version of The Stones' song The Last Time. As a result, writer Richard Ashcroft had to sign over his rights to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards - until now. Speaking as he received a lifetime achievement prize at the Ivor Novello Awards, Ashcroft announced: "As of last month, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards signed over all their publishing for Bitter Sweet Symphony, which was a truly kind and magnanimous thing for them to do." As a result, all future royalties for the song will now go to Ashcroft. The singer acknowledged that it was the Rolling Stones' late manager, Allen Klein, who had been responsible for the situation, rather than the musicians themselves. "I never had a personal beef with the Stones," he told the BBC. "They've always have been the greatest rock and roll band in the world." He went on to thank Jagger and Richards for acknowledging he was responsible "for this [expletive] masterpiece".

You nailed the meaning of the song and video, Sceez. The Verve are a British band who had some massive hits in the 90s. The lead singer's name is Richard Ashcroft and he's also had a solo career outside of the band. Some of The Verve's hits, include: Bittersweet Symphony Lucky Man Sonnet The Drugs Don’t Work History This Time Gravity Grave Space and Time

The lyrics for this song are great. The lines "I've never prayed but tonight I'm on my knees yeah, I need to hear some sounds that recognise the pain in me yeah" are my favourite. For me it's about going through a bad time and throwing on some music that resonates with you and lifts you up.

I used work at Abbey road studios when I was younger. My manager gave me tickets to a Coldplay concert in Earl’s Court. I went and the supporting band was the verve. Instead of being grateful Richard said “we should be fu*king headlining tonight” although I didn’t appreciate his arrogance, I did think that he was right 😂❤

The UK has great musicians, but lets not forget rock in all its forms is American. Main stream music known today is American. Best artists are also American. No shade just truth. Its incomparable and delusional on all levels to campare the UK to America in music. 😂

SWEAR TO GOD... or whomever is your flavor... sceez is the smartest man on youtube. I think his interpretation is dead-on. Man is swimming uphill against all the expectations and decided he's going for it. Yes he catches nasty looks, words or even threats... but he keeps swimming. But he could change he could change he could change he could change he could change............

@BardOfAndromeda7 ай бұрын
Nope. Far from one hit wonders. The UK chart was arguably as influential as the US chart maybe not in terms of units shifted but in sheer competitiveness of top-notch artists - certainly in the 60s-90s. Several top 10 hits in their native country, and throughout Europe, and it wouldn't surprise me if in Australia as well.
