At 16:15 you say that Starlux is the only airline that you know of that features dimmable windows... When I flew Air France A350 from Paris CDG to Newark in September, they had dimmable windows on their A350-900 registered F-HUVF. Just a little factoid :)

So some context between Starlux and EVA air. Starlux's founder is the illegitimate son of the original CEO of Evergreen (aka EVA air). He had a portion of his old man's heritage and this made the current CEO, which is the legitimate son, a bit jealous. So after being screwed up in all sorts of ways, he was fed up and used all of his portion of heritage to establish Starlux with the ambition of telling his brother that he didn't need to rely on them to succeed. Once in an interview, he said "Many people think that I only get to do what I do because I have papa's huge sum of gold... And they are absolutely right." in a confident way. He built the 3rd largest airline in Taiwan because he wanted to give his brother the biggest slap in the face in the world.

@@adrian.y8563 well I think he’s his fathers favorites that’s why he was supposed to be chairman of the whole group per his will and he was for a few weeks until I heard he was piloting a flight to Singapore when the family held a meeting and voted him out and he had to deadhead back lol He was so mad he started Starlux in revenge But the family may work it out later and Starlux could become a sub airline of EVA if the family allows him to chair EVA air And they should because he knows how to run an airline He ran EVA very well for years

The Chairman of Starlux Airlines was originally the Chairman of EVA Air. After a dispute over inheritance and being betrayed by his brothers, he left and founded Starlux Airlines. What I find most impressive is that the Chairman of Starlux Airlines started from the very bottom in EVA Air, learning every role from ground staff and maintenance personnel to eventually becoming a pilot. His experience as a pilot is also one of the biggest surprises of Starlux Airlines. There's a good chance you might end up on a flight piloted by the Chairman himself. He is truly an admirable person with great dreams.

It's more difficult to vlog about economy class because of all the people they try to frame out and the very limited space they'll have to set up their shots of themselves and their seat. Plus there's not as much uniqueness to explain short of bringing things like measuring tapes and pressure gauges to find the minute technical differences in the hard product. People are already annoyed enough about crying babies and reclined seats. Imagine now the guy next to you randomly thinking out loud about the flight into a microphone, because commentary softer than at normal conversation volume negatively affects the review for the video they're trying to make.

"For humans time is not just spent, it is felt." Really appreciate the way your review becomes objective, insightful and rhetorical all at once. Some "other" comments for JX here: With little doubt Starlux is one of the best in Asia and beyond, which fact doesn't mean they are flawless. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to fly on their inaugural service to Seattle, and the experience was...mixed, to say the least. The hardware and the meal was as fantastic as in this review, but I found two weird aspects of their economy service (also valid for a previous trip with them to LAX): 1) on the long-hauls they only serve the standard two meals, with little to nothing in between; and I believe it shouldn't be asking too much for a top carrier to provide some snacks or at least beverages between those. And 2) In a fully booked economy situation, It seem to take JX a long while to serve everyone food. It became especially chaotic and confusing when about 50% of the cabin have their meal pre-ordered, the cabin crew walking back and forth holding individual trays trying to have those served first, and with the trolley also already on the aisle. All customers got served in a slightly random order in this case. For me on the SEA inaugural flight, I waited two full hours after the dinner service started to receive my pre-ordered meal. It was still very good, but I certainly learnt the lesson that even the best carriers cannot always prevent some kind of dramatic scenarios from happening :)

@SCHANG-fp1xv Ай бұрын
All of their long haul flights departs around midnight so they may be thinking about just providing snacks on requests. For me as a passenger, I literally just slept through the flights and got up just right for breakfast so never felt that I missed something. But it can be definitely different for other pax. While some of their crews have extensive experience in other airlines (SQ/CX), many are newly hired and their training is not known to be solid. I think they may need invest more time to really focus on crew training, especially when they're expanding at an even faster speed.
@蔡孟衡-n7q

Well… your opinion is spot on. I flew JX abt five times now, and BR and CI countless more, the thing i could say JX is lacking thereof is consistency. Their service procedures are NOT fine tuned as the established two, partially bcz their cabin crews are more young and immature in… basically what to do. Regarding JX trying v much to impress can sometimes turned out to be a mess… eg. their cocktail campaign. Also the wifi is down 3/5 times, that never happened to BR, which cannot be understated since how important connection is these days…

The attitude, the service, and how they arrange your trip is truly dedicated to your preference at the beginning. I knew Japan airlines do the same BUT you need to ask! Starlux brings back a touch of sophistication or 'glam' to flying. It's something we don't see too much of nowadays. It's a testament to Asian passengers' discipline that the extra leg room seats are not being occupied when empty. If this was a Western airline, the seats would have been taken without asking and would have led to confrontation when asked to move.

Thanks for finally getting to review Starlux. As usual, your objectivity is most appreciated. As an old timer who fondly remembers the "golden age" of commercial aviation, (when flying was an experience of comfort, good meals and friendly attentive service from flight attendants who actually liked their jobs) Starlux brings those days back to me. Yes, they are more expensive but to me, a comfortable flight with great service is worth paying extra for instead of saving some money and flying in "sardine class" with a "dog food in the sky" menu that you have to pay extra for. I hope that they continue to succeed in today's tough market. I will remain a loyal fan of theirs.

As someone who frequently fly between California and Taiwan I can’t express how much I love Starlux The economy class is pretty affordable and nice quality. Usually my options are United Airlines (budget but not quality) and Eva Air( the other way around) Their aircraft is new, the seat is comfy, the meal is nice and I love the branding (as a graphic designer lol) There’s so much details that make you think they really want to elevate your flight experience The only thing I want to complain on is them designing the headset plug under the screen, and they don’t let you use it during departing and landing.

My best experience was just after the pandemic was over, I flew from Taoyuan to Manila and we were only 12 people on the flight and because of Covid stuff they spread us out all over the plane. It was awesome and the service was outstanding. I don't think they are expensive, they are cheaper than their two Taiwanese rivals with great service and their flights are always on time.

Except all low-cost airlines, Starlux had the cheapest round trip tickets between HK and Taipei. Even during the summer holiday period, other big airlines like CX ,HX, BR or CI needs around at least 3000 HKD but Starlux only needs less than 2000 . and with their superior quality of services. It's absolutely worth to fly with them

Terminal 2 a newer terminal which handles more long haul international routes and Terminal 1 is the older Terminal which handles shorter flights. There is another new terminal three being built, and a new bigger longer runway that can handle the likes of the A380 with ease. Just sharing info 😊

I didn’t regret it. The food and inflight was very good, and Ontario was everything that LAX was not. Ontario was simple, to the point and fast. No messing around with that airport. The drawback with Ontario was the lack of shopping and eating facilities, but so what. Airport food and shopping is already expensive and I’m Okay without it. Not to mention, Ontario’s international arrivals terminal parking was free. So, in the end, the switch of airlines was worth it.

The seat comfort is probably the best of any economy seat out there, the entertainment system is also one of the best, if not the best, and the food is also pretty good. Ideally, a long-haul flight would be the best way to judge this product, but I think you should just try it to see how much CX has recovered, and then gone beyond what it was pre-covid.

IMO it’s not fair to compare with €100 peach flight. You should compare prices to a peach flight with check in luggage and a meal at the very least.

There is no other better way than to get from the US to TPE than on Starlux that I have experienced. Even the regular economy is top shelf when compared to anyone else.

Wow, they used their biggest plane for this short flight! I don't know that the windows on JX A350 can get hot. I still think dimmable window is a great feature because you can see outside without affecting other passengers.

When I first heard you were only flying for 2.5 hrs I thought to myself how useful could this info be when comparing it to a long haul flight where you're there for much longer but I think many of the "bones" from this video will remain the same. The seat, entertainment, service and food. It looks like a great way to travel in Y. I believe you forgot to include Manila in your graphic of regional flights.

I took A330 neo flight from Kansai airport to Taipei this year, the landing was amazing that I can barely feel the impact, like riding the slide, but flight attendant skipped my beverage so I was not happy at the moment.
