This planted tank has been a work in progress for nearly four years now! It is the first planted tank I ever attempted, and is what started my whole hobby. It was also my first attempt at custom decorations!

Thanks @deadfred821 - I added the netting around the sponge (it was a grey shower loofa from the grocery store!) so I could shove mini christmas moss under the netting. I zip tied it tight. Hope the sponge idea comes in handy!

Honestly I'm a big fan of the overgrown look. It's super green and natural and there are tons of places for fish/shrimp to hide and swim around stuff.

I used acrylic and sealed it. Though the decorations failed and something probably leached into the aquarium. STay tuned, I'm doing a series on it soon

I need to make a wall to hold back my substrate from the bare part in the tank. What type of clay did you use? I’ve been told that primo clay is aquarium safe. Also what is you use on it to coat it so it would not leach into your water and harm the fish.? I’ve been looking everywhere for a retaining wall that is already made and nothing looks like what I want so I’m going to have to make something. Your experience would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a few different materials and I’ve been hesitant to go For them because they ended up bailing on me. I’m not sure if it’s because of the materials or because I made a mistake. I might be making a video about this very topic coming up really shortly, about how I made these decorations in detail, what I think went wrong, and how I would do it again

Hiiii! I've been watching your videos for a really long time and you've taught me enough that i thought i could breed 2/5 of my beautiful bettas, but i hav a few questions i though you or anybody else could help me with? i did everything right, and i saw what i thought was their first embrace but i didn't see any eggs, they bred for about 20 minutes before i was SURE there weren't any eggs left and i assumed maybe that WASNT their first embrace and they had already laid eggs. i seperated the female and kept the male with his bubble net, it's been 48 hours and nothings happening, did i do anything wrong? can i help them in any way? should i try again? maybe with another female? sorry, thank you to anybody who can help me or just read this comment !

Sometimes it takes a while for the female to expel the eggs! I've witnessed many "dry" embraces

next time make the fence and gate out of small spider wood branches and resin cast mold the rest, clay/ceramic is used to make aquarium decor but it isnt easy and it takes a lot of skill and work if anything goes wrong in the glazing/sealing process the decor will take in water and fall apart.

I think it is because the tank is right next to a window, so it was getting ambient light from the backside of the tank! There was also a little co2 being injected

i have a question for anybody i guess; i have 5 bettas ( 2 m 3 f ) and i tried to breed my 2 friendliest but it didnt work out :( my male that i bred is gorgeous and so easygoing that i'd like to try with another friendly female, i just don't know how long i should wait. If the fish aren't flaring at eachother and acting somewhat "aggressive", they might not be ready to breed. Of course its hard to say without seeing the fish
