I don't think it looks bad at all but more than anything I love that you shared it even though you thought it wasn't perfect because you thought someone night benefit from it!

Your video has absolutely made my day... I've done so many projects which have gone pear shaped too. But the lamp shade is actually really lovely and rustic.

It looks like something you can buy for a lot of money in a home decor store in the patio section. It has a tropical vacation vibe.

I've seen Navajo women use yucca and they smack the leaves against a wooden bench to make them more pliable.

I absolutely love it when people who craft share their fails, because it encourages growth and practice! Love it!

It’s cute! And it’s so adorable that your son thinks it’s funny. It’s practice at least for when you want to make a new one or if you want to buy one. 😊

I got a chuckle from this. Not only did you do something unique and share a "failure" (which it isn't, you learned something from the experience, after all), but it turned out cute. Your son loves it, and it's in your home where he'll see it every day. If he genuinely finds it hilarious, then it's a plus for you since you get to hear his laughter more often. :-) As a mother myself, I can say that is one of the more gratifying successes regardless of how it looks aesthetically to a well-practiced eye.

Actually I quite like it. It's interesting to look at. Things don't always have to look what someone would describe as "perfect". It's very organic! 🤗

"not quite so smashy" Thats glass for you I love your artistic flare. The health and safety officer in me is concerned for the flammability of dried yucca as it continues to dry out if it hasn't been treated to be a lampshade... Ur creativity is still increds!!!

We all have moments like this where you can hardly finish a project you dont like it so much, but id all "youtubers" only show their successes then ur regular watchers kinda feel extra faily when we fail, so im very happy to see the mishap projects too, and its got a certain charm too it Klaire, maybe it'll look better when it dries out and is more uniform in colour 😊

I thought it was funny looking when you just finished it but when you put it up on the ceiling, it actually looked pretty decent. I giggled when you giggled sheepishly, and I loved your boy's hands kept reaching for your woven lamp.

Ah, I actually love how it looks! If I were to make it, I would have continued the weaving a little further, but I really like it! And I appreciate you sharing a project you thought went all wrong instead of just the pretty ones!

I had a similar experience when I tried weaving a bamboo leaf mat before & it worked ok at first while it was small, but I did a similar thing of thinking "bigger leaves will make this go quicker" & I completely messed it up after that. It was impossible to keep tight enough & overnight the outer weaving basically fell apart, leaving a small mat of the thinner, tightly woven leaves. The leaves had dried to much to do much else so I just trimmed it down & used it as a coaster instead of a placemat.

I thought it wasn’t that bad but then you actually put it on the ceiling and I burst into laughter 😭 I’ve definitely had some fails like this before as I do a new craft project after another and the best thing is to just laugh at the mistake s

Well i couldn't take leaves and weave them into something so pretty. Granted your execution of it maybe wasn't the best, but it's a first step to progressively getting better at something that is actually quite a skill. My daughters 4th birthday cake looked like the melted attempt the fairies in Sleeping Beauty made. No amount of magic would have saved it! I wish i could share a photo because at the tome i laughed and cried in despair, i felt like the worst mum in the world. But everybody said it tasted amazing. Even if it did look like something had pooped out pink, blue and white swirly stuff on very bright pink frisbes! I can laugh about it now but i cried eating it and kept apologizing.
