I am a few years younger than Mick and I liked Simply Red in college and their songs were always in the background of my life. Fast forward to today. Its Christmas Day 2024 and I am alone. I have been listening to Simply Red albums and watching interviews all week and today. And while I am a little sad, all is right with the world because of Mick, his music and his outlook. Thank you Mick ❤

MEGA underrated group of exceptional musicians. I flew to London for their last last concert at the O2 in December 2010 when the band took their last break and the memory that they seared in my mind, will stay w me until the end of days in a very special place.
@KRAZEEIZATION3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say underrated, they grew steadily from 1985 Picture Book, and by Stars were one the biggest and most popular bands in the world. Mick got rid of the band in the mid 90s and to me sank into blandness. He’s still a great singer. The first three albums and all the B-sides from them are superb and essential. From 1985 to 1990 is the best of the Simply Red story you’ll ever need. Stars became too commercial, a bit like corn flakes.

Excellent documentary. I'm 47 and "Stars" have been with me since I have 18 and each day I love more and more that record. In fact I deeply known Simply Red by listen "Stars" and after that I started to buy the previous album from which I only know the singles. The entire "Stars" album is a masterpiece, from the beginning to the end, but if I have to choose a song that I have to tell someone "please, listen to this", I should choose "Your Mirror". One more thing, and I believe that have to do with the way the songs were created, this album can be a background music on a pub and will please everybody ears or turn up the volume of your system at home and feel the power of each individual track.

I was only seven when this album came out and I loved it. I used to listen to it on my walkman, and one day my folks asked me what I was listening to. We palyed it on a car trip, and they where kind of shoked. They expected some pop band, and suddenly these groovy piano and insane saxsophone and Mick's sexy totally grown up voice. They were like "OK kid..." years past, and I am proud of that kid choosing this music, that is both highly skilled and timeless.

I think I have become a new Simply Red fan,I knew their hits but tbh after seeing their live concerts uploaded in YT I am a complete convert and have now bought their back catalogue.To be honest I had no idea just how good Mick was and the astounding group of musicians he has gathered around him.Simply fantastic is all I can say.I think I may have been put off by his personna and the whole model/cocaine lifestyle possibly.I don't know what it is about blokes who often are not that hot but once they become famous they always have these model types hanging around but both parties are obviously getting something from it so....
