Hi Sweet Amy - Wow, Scott is amazing and your railing looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing this with us. I had no idea what all was involved in such a project. You and Scott could be the next Chip and Joanna. Today I have so much fun planned. Last week Rachel came and helped me rearrange my den furniture for the first time in 20 years. Now I have decided I needed a few new decor pieces in there. Also my daughter Rebecca just had her hardwood floors refinished and new windows put in and new furniture in her living room so she is looking for some new pieces too and finally Rachel will have her first apartment up at college and we are looking for some things for that too. To top it all off, we will have lunch. Rebecca gets off at noon on Fridays and she will go pick Rachel up and then come to get me. I. Didn’t go exercise this morning because I am saving my knees for shopping HA!. Thank you for the verse today. I have always loved that verse and I claimed it when I was trying to lose weight. Wow what an amazing transformation. The railings look incredible, your hubby did an amazing job and was very patient, my husband would have given up when the bolts broke and hired someone 😂. I on the other hand would have done exactly like Scott and took on the challenge. 💪 I love the low maintenance and beauty in not having to keep painting a wood railing for sure. I’m starting this project tomorrow morning. Yeah a hammer drill is what is required along with masonry bits. I would have filled in the holes with adhesive cement filler. This will seal everything in the hole. Hopefully my project doesn’t take as long as yours did. I’m looking to get done in one day.

It looks very nice but I think I would prefer the original Colonial-style rails for your home. Proper tools are always the key, (as you learned) tools can make almost anybody a pro. When doing your research, it's always good to include the tool videos and most are now easy to rent at a moderate cost. But worth every dime. Good job and thanks for posting the video.

Hello from Raeford North Carolina, I was thinking about doing the vinyl railing myself as well. Don't know much about measurements or tools but looking at what you did seems to be fairly easy. I did have the post on my porch replaced about a month ago and I like the vinyl. That seems like something that I can do myself. My question is those blocks that your husband put up where did you get those from and how do you measure that and also can you cut the vinyl railing portion with anything then the circular saw? Because I don't know how to operate that. If you can answer that would be great but I'm going to try it. Thank you in advance. 😮

Sooooo, first time here. Searched you out bec we have these railings but the base has cracked on all but one due to weather & bumping with the snowblower, etc here in Michigan😢 Hubby replacing bases but having a ridiculous time (he didn’t install them) any tips? When we put the vertical rails back in we cannot reach where the screws need to go! Sooo frustrating for him & me too! Thank you!

Looks great! We have a porch that wraps around the front and one side of our house and it has wood railing! It’s starting to look bad. I would love to have ours redone with vinyl.

I love the porch!! I love the bigger columns and new railing. Im not sure if you mentioned it but where did you guys order your railing kit from?? We actually have the same style of porch and I want to get a thicker banister and add railings to our porch.

Hi Matt! The post wraps came from Minards. They where not in stock in the store so I hade to order them on the website.
