Just bought a Simpson 260 Series 3 for $8 but it had the same exact issue you had with yours. You saved me a lot of time trying to figure out why my Resistance Function was faulty... Thank you for your post.....3 years after.

Great video. Thanks, it caused me to get out my old Simpson 260-6 that had similar problems, (but not exactly the same), in the Ohms ranges. I noticed you said 1109 K for R-17, but I could tell you meant to say 1.109 K. Very informative, and I thank you again for getting me off my butt to put "Ole' faithful" back in service. Best wishes..................Dick

Great vid, liked the way you walked through your logic. I admit I am very new to this, does simpson offer replacement parts that are to spec? If not them, can you find the spec parts elsewhere? Since it is a piece of test gear, I am assuming you want the values as close as possible to the original ones to maintain the specs. 73 Scott

+Scott Johnston Yes they do have repair facilities. There is also other individuals and companies repairing this equipment. I found a number of them with Google searches.

Picked one one these up for £4 at a local ham fest. The meter movement had a bit of dust in it as was sticking but all ok now. It's a bit rough looking with the wrong knobs, so looking for original knobs to replace them.

Just bought a 260-4 at an estate sale $5. I put in new batteries after cleaning and removing the corroded batteries, and the needle moved! Next step is to find out why the reading is not correct. It may be a damaged movement. Thanks for the tutorial!

Question. I have a Simpson series 6 like the one in the video. What can I replace the 123.57 ohms 1% resistor. It is listed a R18
@AllAmericanFiveRadio8 жыл бұрын
+chris c You could try making one like I did in this video, it takes a lot of resistors though to come up with the right combination. You might consider a small variable resistor. Or you can contact Simpson and talk to their tech support, Simpson is a very good company. Below is the link. www.simpsonelectric.com/technical-support/calibration-and-repair

Chris, I am a little late to the dance here but there's a repair company out here in Southern California called IMS or Instrument Meter Specialities (Google them) that will sell the precision resistors for your Simpson meter. They're good folks and will help you with info. Good luck!

Hi, I have a 7 series and it gives me zero horizontally and on 2 sides, but in the other potions it does not give zero, as well as no measurement works, I want to know if the galvanometer is fine? .Thank you
@AllAmericanFiveRadio3 жыл бұрын
The meter works on one or two selection so that proves that the meter movement works.

Hello, Great video. I realize this might be a long shot, but here goes. I have a Simpson 360-2 multimeter, it's a beauty! BUT, its analog needle [which sits beneath the main digital display, and which is used for trending] does not zero. It moves just fine, when measuring volts and etc, moving left and right without a hitch, but it never returns to zero proper, it always stops at 'round 3mm to the right, of zero. This multimeter is in great shape, so I figure, it's probably not broken. There is a zero adjust screw on this device but it's only for zeroing the main digital display, there is no visible way [that I could find] to zero the analog display's needle. Am I missing something? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Keep making videos. Thank you kindly

@@AllAmericanFiveRadio What series is the meter? does this video apply to the series 5? if it is not?
