Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Simpson power washer are built very well. I have a 3400psi with 2.5 home and a Honda motor, and it works really well. I've had it about 5 years and no problem's at all. Like anything, a little maintenance, and be sure to winterize it, and if it's going to sit awhile before using it, add some fuel treatment. Good review, thanks, John

I just bought one Saturday. Mine is a bit different. Has a Honda engine and is 3400 PSI. One piece of advice for anyone using a pressure washer. You need to buy a turbo tip. I have a very long driveway. I am not kidding with a regular tip it use to take me about a day and a half. Got the turbo tip and now it takes a couple of hours. They cost about 50.00 dollars. But they are worth every penny.

If that’s regular pump gas, and you’re sitting on it for a month or more, you should ABSOLUTELY treat it with Sta-Bil gas stabilizer. Even if it’s pure gasoline (non-ethanol), if you’re going to keep it for a month or more in a container, you should still treat it. It will help keep moisture out of the gas, as well as prevent it from degrading and separating. Otherwise what you just poured in there is a bunch of water along with the gas, and possibly separated gas, which will corrode the engine from the inside, as well as gunk up the jets on the carburetor. I would also not keep gas in such a large 5-gallon container, especially if that’s for your small engine stuff where the container does a lot of sitting around in between refills. That means as the container gets emptied, there’s a huge volume of air inside which contains moisture for the gas to absorb, as well as allow the gasoline to off-gas and break down. Gasoline is Hydroscopic - which means it absorbs water very readily, just the humidity in the air is enough for it to absorb a ton of water, if it’s not treated. Good luck!

I’d also stay away from these types of gas containers that require you to unscrew a cap to fill something, as you’re exposing all the gas to the air outside. Instead look for containers that once you fill them with gas, have valves built in that allow you to just press a button or a lever and the gas will flow out. This will help keep the gas fresh, and lessen the exposure to outside air. It will only allow enough air back in to replace the volume of gas out.

I’d highly recommend a couple of accessories for your pressure washer: 1. 3/8 male quick connect coupler for the back of the gun, along with a 3/8 female quick connect coupler for the pressure hose, so you can just snap the hose on and off the gun. Same for the machine side (you could reverse the male/female connection on the machine side if you want to have separate hose ends for gun and hose). 2. Get a “Live Swivel” for the gun end, so you’re hose doesn’t twist and kink, and you don’t have to fight it as you move around. You could find some live swivels with included quick connects already on them (usually male). Saving you from having to get an extra quick connect coupler. 3. This one is important - get an in-line Pressure Gauge, so you can set the correct operating pressure on the machine. Watch a video on how to set the unloader on your machine (how to set operating pressure). This leads me to… 4. If you plan on running lower pressure for any purpose you may have below the rated normal operating pressure of the machine don’t use the Unloader Valve to adjust the pressure down (or the throttle), even though the manual might tell you it’s ok. Adjusting the unloader valve down will damage the pump over time (by increasing the bypass flow, and increasing water temperature), it also lowers the GPM output. Ideally you want the same GPM just at a lower pressure, to achieve that you need to find a pressure washer “nozzle chart” online, find the lower pressure you want at your rated GPM, and get that nozzle size in whatever degree pattern you need (or buy the full kit of 3-5 nozzles at that size). The nozzles cost a couple of bucks a piece, but it will improve the performance by maintaining the same GPM output, and prolong your pump’s life, while providing you with whatever lower pressure you need. You will need that inline pressure gauge to confirm your lower operating pressure.

@@DisciplineNation1 Read my initial comment above in detail. What you need is an inline pressure gauge. You can find them everywhere online, look up "pressure washer gauge", and you'll find a ton of them. Most of them will go to either 5,000 or 6,000 PSI. I won't go into specifics about gauge accuracy vs pressure range, cause for your purposes a 0-5,000 ranged gauge will be fine. You might need to buy some 3/8" quick connects if your setup doesn't already have them. You'll need a Male end for the pressure washer gun, and a Female end for the hose. Once you have that, you'll be able to plug the pressure gauge in-line, between the gun and pressure hose. Once you have a gauge, and setup, then you can properly adjust your unloader. This is where you need to know the original specs of your pressure washer. You need to know it's rated pressure output and flow numbers (ie. 3000 Psi @ 2.5 GPM for example). Realistically you'd need to know what nozzle/orifice size that rating is for, if the company has the machine come with different sizes. Generally if it's a gas machine, they'll all be the same size, so it wont matter which you measure with. Meanwhile most electric pressure washers will come with all different orifice sized nozzles (they'll usually use the smallest nozzle to hit the rated PSI rating, and the largest size to hit the flow rating), if they're honest, then they will use only one nozzle to hit their marketed rating.

@@DisciplineNation1Alright. Some tips: 1. Generally turning the Unloader regulator knob clockwise should increase your pressure output. 2. It's generally much easier to turn with the pressure washer shut off, then it is when it's pressurized. Though it should still be able to turn when pressurized, just requires much more force to turn up, easier to turn down. When I first got my Simpsom Water Blaster 4200 psi @ 4.0 GPM belt driven pressure washer with a Honda GX390, I thought I had a problem with the unloader or pump cause it would operate at around 3500 psi. Whenever I tried to adjust the Unloader it was easy to turn counter clockwise (pressure down), but when I would turn it up, clockwise, it was easy enough, then it felt like it hit a wall and stop at 3,500 psi. I didn't want to force it any further, cause the amount of force required I was afraid it might break (and I thought that it was at the end of how far it would turn clockwise). So I took it to a small engine repair place near me and explained the issue I was having with ny brand new unit. The guy put a gauge on it, started it up, walked around it checking it out, then walked up and just turned the unloader knob clockwise, and showed me on the gauge the pressure start building to 4,100-4,200 psi. I felt like an idiot, he laughed and said that's common, cause when it's running it requires a lot of force especially at higher pressures, so people are afraid they'll break the knob, and stop turning too early. My mistake was I only tried turning it while it was running. 3. Because it's easier to turn when its off, you should be able to turn it all the way clockwise till you hit a real wall. Then give it a quarter turn back counterclockwise, start up your pressure washer and check the pressure while squeezing the trigger. 4. Keep in mind that the pressure with the trigger squeezed is your operating pressure. When you release the trigger, generally the pressure will spike higher by anywhere from 200-500 psi, and could stay there, until you pull the trigger again. That back pressure build up is normal, as long as it doesn't spike too high (over 1000 psi). 5. MTM Hydro has a great online calculator for figuring out what size orifice nozzle you need to achieve desired pressure ouput. Using various orifice nozzles is the only way you really should be "adjusting" pressure on a pressure washer if you care about your pump and engine longevity. It also optimizes the output by always maintaining proper maximum flow (gpm) while only adjusting the pressure. You can go as low as you want, but should not try to achieve higher pressures than what your pump is rated for, or it could damage the pump (by choosing nozzles with orifices too small for your machine). 6. Nozzles have two sizes to them, the orifice size and the spray pattern. They will generally be written as a single part number, but will include both measurements. So a 25 Degree (green) nozzle that has an orifice of 4.0, will generally be written as 2540, or 25040. A 40 degree (white) nozzle with an orifice of 3.5 will be 4035, or 40035. And so on. The higher the orifice number the more open it is, and the lower you'll drop the pressure, while maintaining the same GPM. You will need to know what your original pressure washer is max rated for to use either the pressure washer nozzle size charts, or the MTM Hydro online calculator. Let me know if you need any more help. Or need help using the MTM calculator, or the nozzle size charts. I'm happy to help, and often there's a lot of useless or wrong info out there. Final word. Most cheap ($20-40) pressure washer gauges, and even the not so cheap one's, are usually most accurate in the middle third of their measurement scale. Outside of that scale they can have up to 5% or sometimes even more of a variance. Which at 4,000 psi, on a 5,000 psi max gauge, is 200 psi. So I wouldn't panic if when you turn your unloader up to proper setting, and your pressure washer is rated for 4,200, but you only see 4,000 on the gauge. It's normal to have the gauge off by 100-200 psi at that range. Also you tend to lose a little psi per every 50' of hose, so if you're measuring at the gun, that's also another thing that contributes to a slight drop.

@@DisciplineNation1 Sorry I forgot about the surface cleaner part of the question. Generally there really shouldn't be "that" big of a deal if there's a 200 psi difference. Considering there are multiple nozzles (2 or 3) on a surface cleaner, as long as they're not rated for 500+psi less than 4,000, you should be fine. You could also find out what orifice sizes they're running on the nozzles for the surface cleaner. If its a quality cleaner, you could technically switch them out for proper sized nozzles. Though again I wouldnt worry if your pressure washer is rated at 4,200 and the surface cleaner is rated for 4,000. If it worries you that much, that's a very slight unloader adjustment away from correcting the difference. Not one that would put your pressure washer in any danger. Generally when we talk about not using the unloader for adjusting pressure, thats if you want to make more than 400-500+ changes. Like dropping it from 4000/4200 to 3500/3000/2500/etc. The lower you go, the more heat buildup in the pump, and the more potential strain on the engine. There is way to use your unloader to adjust pressure and it be safe. The only way is if you allow the unloader to dump out externally, rather than recirculating the water internally. In which case either way, you still lose gpm flow output at the wand/gun, but at least you're not recirculating hot water through the pump, and adding resistance to the engine. Mostly the setups that'll do this are using external gravity feed water tanks as the water supply, and dump the unloader bypass back into the tank.

Don't wait more than 30 seconds to run water through the pump, Heat builds up in the pump pretty quick. Also a pressure washer surface cleaner would work better and will not leave streaks

You are so right about the surface cleaner. It helps preserve the integrity of the concrete, especially around swimming pools where the surface cleaner is a must, and the cement used is much finer in texture..

I just got mine out of the garage for use for first time tomorrow..I do not even remember when I bought it from lowes; it have been sitting new in the box in my garage for at least couple years if not more. Min e is exactly the same engine however the box state it is 3200 psi 2.5 gpm instead of 3300, so i do not know why is that, maybe a misprint or mine is actually older? in any case it should work just like this one here, not too much difference between 3200 psi and 3300 right?

Thanks for the video. I just bought the same machine but it didn't come with a replacement plug for that one you removed in the video (the one that required the Alan key) i didn't have a tag reminder either. Are they all supposed to be that way?

I think that there are 2 slightly different variations of the same model (one with this shipping/replacement plug and one without). The reason that I suspect this is that I also recently bought one that does have the plug but I didn't have the right sized hex key (Steven said his was a 7/32 but this was too small for mine). No where on packaging or manual does it specify the size for this so I went to store where I bought it in hopes that they could measure the size on a display unit and give me the right tool. Well, they didn't have any display units so they opened another box with same model number and that one didn't have the plug either. I didn't notice anything else different but apparently some don't come with it. I ended up going back home and measuring it with same calipers and my plug is closer to 5/16. (Aside from Simpson not including a tool or at least providing a clue as to the size of this plug, so far, I've been really happy with it though!)

Be super careful with that pump. Simpson has a bad rep in Amazon reviews for poor warranty coverage on pumps. Always be sure it's full of water before starting it up. I always pull my trigger and wait until I can go for a minute without any air pockets coming out of the nozzle.

Wonder if it's going to start for you. Let it sit for a few months and the exhaust valve rusts in place. I had mine fixed once (not under warrantee because they said I must have gotten it wet). After that I always removed the hose a let it fun for a few minutes to make sure there was no moisture in the engine. Well, I went to use it today, same issue. Pulled the head off of the engine and the exhaust valve was stuck. I've seen others with the same problem. The engine on this unit is pure junk. Just as a comparison, I have a Harbor Freight compactor that I bough at the same time, and is stored next to my pressure washer. The thing starts right up, including today after months of sitting due to winter.

Hey! Should I reverse the steps with the engine/choke when shutting the pressure washer down? And what if there is excess oil left after a job? Does it stay in or get siphoned out

The choke just helps start the engine. It should be off when running. Just turn the ignition switch to off to shut down. The oil is in there to lubricate the engine just like a car- it stays in. The manual should show how to check the level like you *should* be doing for your car.

Does yours run really hot? I Just got one as a hand me down because it didn't work. Ended up being a stuck valve I was able to fix no problem. But after running for about 5 minutes it cut off and was really hot.
