Why'd they make road rage and hit n run so similar? Although I loved hit n run

They're only similar on the surface. Road Rage, released in 2001, is little more than a shallow rip-off of Crazy Taxi with the Simpsons as drivers. Cars are indestructible and you can't exit them to explore the world on foot. There's a handful of missions and the rest of the game is a taxi simulator. Hit and Run was released in 2003 and took more inspiration from GTA III. Vehicles can be destroyed, there's a greater variety of vehicles, and you can find secrets hidden all over the maps if you search for them. There's far more missions than in Road Rage, and they're fleshed out better. There's bonus missions, street races, gags, three alternate costumes for each level, special hidden vehicles that are exclusive to each level, collectible cards that showcase an important plot item from classic Simpsons episodes, and even basic combat against the wasp cameras. Let's not forget that recklessness/aggression is punished with a police chase and potential fine if caught. The graphics are better and there's much more voice acting as well. You can even hitch a ride with NPC traffic cars if you want. tl;dr Hit and Run is only superficially similar to Road Rage.
