As I've said this looks brilliant- I love the whole process that your undertaking with the old girl qnd it appeals very much to my artist/creative streak. Its more of a skill to age something instea of making it shiney and new. Awesome work, Marc.

This is really going to stand out at the Volvo shows with this paint job I think. Much in the same way the Clubman estate does at the mini ones too.

Weird, a bit different especially makes the wheels stand out, but as they say "whatever floats your boat!" It does grow on ya, so you've got my attention..... I don't know about in England but around here in the States some hot rodders paint their cars flat black. Rat rod black they call it, I believe. This is your version. What will you call this effect? Patinization? Distressing? The latter is what antique dealers do to make furniture look old and abused. Love it!

Yes the wheels definitely stand out more that’s for sure. I guess the best way to describe it is patinization the original marks and damage to the car has been left and the repairs I have done I have tired to make look like they haven’t been done. Glad you’re enjoying it. Cheers 👍

Nice one mate you must have arms like popeye on you after the vast real estate you had to scotch back and sand in places. I remember watching mcm years ago with the mk3 golf they got to rust beer and erm wee seemed to work good. Although i would stick with the salt water !!

Not a fan of the patina route, but it's starting to grow on me a bit. I know you've got clear coat on order, but I think thinned down linseed oil would give a better patina look and preservation. I realize you're concerned about being able to paint over it later, but I don't think it'd be a problem. Just watch "Diff" and what he does with his patina'd truck "Fly Trap" on the KZbin channel "Rat Rods for Africa". All the best! Enjoying the videos!

Appreciate your comment for me it doesn’t sit well putting oil on a car that I later might want to repaint. Think of this as phase one. This gets the car on the road wearing its scars and history. Who knows what the future brings. Thanks for watching.
