A brand new Strange engineering S60 Dana 60 rear for my Mopar muscle car. My small block mopar 1968 Dodge Dart will benefit from the upgrades in this Dana 60 rear end, thing like 40 spline axels, a full spool and a 4:30 gear ratio. Drag race and street car action!

Speedway Motors sales an excellent disc brake upgrade for Chrysler rear ends. I bought one to replace my 10 inch by 2 and 1/2 drum brakes on my 8 and 3/4. They aren't very lightweight but the price was less than $400 shipped. The fit was excellent and they work great. However they were about 5 lb lighter each side than the drum brakes. And if you weigh your original driveshaft versus the aluminum one you will find there is not a lot of difference

Brother, I love your channel and what you are doing with the car. Your local track scares the shat out of me, but I don't think you have mentioned anyone piling up at the end yet, so I guess I'm ok, BUT, I think you should go with the aluminum housing cover. At you current Tq. and Hp. I believe you will be fine, but once you stroke it and raise the compression, (and you know you will), you will need the extra bracing. I'm thinking you may also be looking into a fuel cell by then as well, but you can have your present tank scalloped to give room for the Dana with the big cover. If you decide to go INJECTION or think you will in the future, you may as well go straight to a fuel cell. One of the best jobs I have seen on a dart was years ago in Vegas. Same body. He cut the trunk floor out beyond the spare tire well and welded in a square tube box to the size for a early Mustang copy, (Made for fuel injected HP Pump in the tank. Put a rubber gasket between the tank and tubing to seal out tire smoke and shaped his own trunk floor. It not only looked great, but like it should have been stock!!! With the exception of having a port to the fuel fill and fuel pump.. Give it some thought. The space under the car was great and plenty room for the Dana strap back cover. Also, you are totally correct. Dr. Diff, (Cass) is a great guy and very helpful.. I've got many of his parts myself...

WOW 40 spline axles!!!! I just pulled my full racing spool and replaced with a 31 spline Yukon Trac-Lok limited slip, Moser axles in a Nodular 9 in Ford and 4:11 gears. No problems with the 9 in, pretty much bullet proof. Mild built 460 with all the good parts, around 500 hp for street only now. Was an 8 sec 1/4 drag car, but for the street, that spool had to go so I can turn the car. No PS or PB Factory disc front drum rear. Selling the 67 Mustang S-code when all is done. Looking for a 67 or 68 Dart also. Cheers from Motown.

This is going to help for sure with your ETs. It might make it rough to dive on the street in terms of making turns as far as I know. But that's a nice, really nice piece of kit. I'm excited to see how much that helps on your ETs. You have enough HP to get better ETs, it's all the other little things to get that power on the track.
@SimpsonsSpeedShop
@SimpsonsSpeedShop 3 жыл бұрын
Yep you got it. I don’t think the rear by its self will be a big change. Should be a bit better 60 foots tho. The big change will be the trans brake. As soon as the car is on the road and I’m breaking the new gears I’m offing parts for the brake. Thanks for watching as always bud!
@BigDaddy-fx4nx
@BigDaddy-fx4nx 3 жыл бұрын
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop You might be surprised at how well the rear does overall, yes the transbrake should be big, as I have said I know what I read and no more. You're losing so much torque with that old rear, now you're putting it into the track. You might have to work with your tire pressure. The cover that it came with offers extra rigidity but at your power levels it should be OK with the new one. I hope eventually you put it back on and put the tank in the trunk, especially with the new motor next year.
