Mine just arrived today. I managed to get one for £120 ($149), and I am really impressed with the rig. I used to clamp my wheel to a small table and sit on a sofa, always used to give me back issues after a hour's play. With the Playseat Challenge I have just finished a 4 hour session, and my back feels like I could do another 4 hours. I am really impressed with this rig, happy days!

I bought one of these. They are surprisingly good and feels very stable. There is another advantage over a fixed rig, take the wheel off and put it in the chair in the garden, the wheel base makes an excellent table to stand your beer on

7crb7 There are so many products out there. So you're telling me its only worth getting into sim racing if I get the best of the best? I have a friend who has a DFGT, and he doesn't seem disappointed, he acknowledges that there are better setups, but he's having a blast. I have a bit more disposable income, but most definitely have to make compromises with my space. I think I'll be happy.

I also picked up one of these shortly after they went to market. Limited space(perfect for my living room), Logitech DFGT already on hand. And I'm only a casual Sim Racer. It's gets used mostly for testing pCARS builds on my home built Steam Box/HTPC. What surprised me is how damn comfortable it is to sit in. Can sit in it for hours. I'll remove the wheel deck and pedal stand portion and use it to play PC games that support a corded XBox controller via Steam.

To get more mileage out of its price tag (and for shits and giggles), removing the pedal plate and folding the wheel deck out of the way turns it into a cool looking lawn chair, or as a sort of rocker chair for when not playing racing games. Recline it far back enough and you could probably sleep in it. Sitting more upright and mounting a slab of wood to the wheel deck adds a surface for writing, food or a laptop.

I just picked one of these up and I think your review is spot on. The build quality was beyond my expectations which makes the price slightly more bearable. There's a slight issue with tolerances on mine and a little more wobble than I saw in your video but when actually racing it is not noticeable at all. If you have a small apartment and the cash I'd definitely recommend this. Thanks for the review!

Bought my Challenge in Nov 2013(Black Friday sale). Just realized my Thrustmaster TX has been bolted to it ever since I got it the following month for Christmas. Been nearly 3 years and it still works and looks new. It's also perfect for use with a VR HMD since you won't have to worry about sliding it up to some monitors. Which can get in the way when tilting up the wheel deck.

A few Google searches will provide several options for shifter mounts. The one I copied uses two mirror mounts from a scooter. Very solid, and I placed it just behind the wheel arm lock. Perfect placement for a TH8A.

They didn´t notice but the wheel can also be adjusted in depth, also the Playseat gearshift holder works perfect with it for those using G27.

Picked one of these up and love it. It's exactly as stated in your review a perfect console rig, pull it up to the big TV and then fold away when done. I was tossing up between this and the CSL seat but in Australia the price difference was $100!!! That price gap plus the Challenge's ability to fold it away made it a no brainier. Next step is to upgrade from the G27 to a T300RS or TX.

How high from the ground is the seat? I have my monitors on an office desk due to needing to use the computer for other stuff than racing as well, and that looks like it would be awfully low for for my desk, despite otherwise looking great for my needs. My current chair I'm using for racing has the seat about 18" off the ground.

I have this thing, and I think it's great. I agree with everything said in this video. A little more adjustability would indeed be nice, but it's still very comfortable and enjoyable to use. After sitting in a swivel chair with my wheel clamped to a small table, this seat is a very welcome improvement. It feels much more like driving an actual car, and that really helps with the immersion.

1.4 million USD is overkill for a Ferrari LaFerrari. Imagine paying 1.4 million dollars for a Mazda Miata with a few extra parts. Do you hear how this sounds? The Playseat Challenge may look like similar to a lawn chair but it is definitely not. And I honestly wouldn't be susprised to find a lawn chair with the same quality and materials for over 200 dollars.

Worth it if you're a casual sim racer but I'm finding it's not ideal if you start doing proper stints in iracing. Also, the rocking on the wheel mounting just cost me a wheel rim as, over about 2 months, a connector pin broke off inside.

there is a attachment you can buy from playseat that let you attach a shifter to this seat... I bought 2 months ago this seat cause i have a small apartment and no space to have a full rig and i had the version with shifter holder for about 210 $/€...

I am afraid these things will be to low for my desk on where my monitor stands. How low is the eye hight when sitting in one of these? Also, dont think i can mount a shifter in a great way on here. Thats the one real con for me. Gonna keep an eye on this one. Figure out if it will work. Looks awesome.

The bounce could be minimized by mounting wheel so that where you grip is closer to the tube it is mounted on. This would significantly reduce leverage. Nice design, looks like my sim rig in a footstool has competition.

That is actually an ingenious design. I think it is too expensive for what it is. It should be around $150 USD tops. For the money they want, they should add a lot more bracing to make it more solid, wheel deck back and forth adjustability, and work in a shifter mount.

Im an average sized guy and 160 pounds, when i sit on this thing the steering wheel is way too close to my body. so i wanted to lean back more, as i prefere the f1 seating position most anyways. But when i did that it always collapsed when i sat on it! i think because the velcro is too short and there is not enough friction.. Do you have any suggestions to fix this?

Wobble fix ! On the left hand side where the frame opens up to sit in there is a small pin to stop the wheel ripping down when exiting the chair push it in and slide frame back into the main frame

I chose this model of seat for lack of space in my playroom, after one year, a plastic part is broken and makes my seat unusable. I tried to contact Playseat customer service to find out if I could get the piece, unfortunately the answer was negative.

I used a bike 'bar end' to mount my TH8A shifter on and it works perfectly. Just needed to drill 2 M6 holes in it and thread it onto the frame and it works a treat.

I bet on that one because it's very affordable ($270 CAD at Costco), it's foldable so you can fold it and put it in a closet and you don't have any annoying bar between your legs like the other Playseats. I'll probably get that one.

My gf snapped the fastener that connects the wheel plate to the upper part of the swing arm tubing, the plastic assembly cracked in half. (She piled loads of her clothes on the wheel.) No luck finding a replacement part or a solution online yet... anyone experienced this? ... any suggestions other than welding? Some kind of fasteners, bolts or a 3d printed solution? Failing that it's bin time. 😭👍
