From what I could tell, Kevin was failing the missions because the mission involved spying, arresting or doing something to rebel operatives, but he had already arrested those operatives before the mission started. In other words, if you are too good at the game then the game penalises you for it. Great job EA, but at least you managed the same standards as the Disney Star Wars trilogy!

I’m a huge Star Wars AND Sims fan. When everyone was hating on the trailer I was interested. But after watching Kevin play through it... oof. How did they manage to make this so damn boring? Even Strangerville had a plant monster you fought. Jeez.

i think it's because it takes place in the Sequel trilogy. i mean, it's just so much downtime, and there's no continuous battles we hear that are going on outside of big events. if the DLC took place in the Prequels or, less likely, the Old Republic (more option to be a Sith or Jedi), we could have had a great DLC

groggblan It has nothing to do with the era, it’s the content. Imagine doing the same boring “spy, report, plant something, report, etc.” for the Republic/Separatists or Rebels/Empire. Hey Kevin. I just really wanted to thank you for making your content as enjoyable as it is, it’s truly amazing. Last night, my beloved pet had to be put to sleep. I am so torn up by his death, and the worst part is, is that I wasn’t able to be there with my mom as he was put to sleep because of college. Today has been such a struggle to get through and honestly, I feel like every day is going to be a struggle to get through from now on; he meant the absolute world to me. *give kevin game codes dammit: an essay by a procrastinator* (long and boring, i like writing comment essays, i’m bored of getting replies by people who read the whole thing and reply “ugh i can’t believe i read all that it was long” lol) EA should actually give kevin recognition and early access as a pack reviewer! the way he plays packs and mentions casual observations rather than a traditional review is really just as valuable in terms of feedback. the reviews by sims-exclusive youtubers are focused mostly on traditional gameplay because they play the games the way they’re intended to be, they play like they’re playing with dolls, playing house. they’re creative and delightful and provide insightful and useful feedback for dollhouse-type gameplay, but they’re used as representative of the sims’ entire userbase when they only represent one group, a big one for sure, but not the players who love playing sims as a whole. kevin is an avid player of the sims 4 who’s not focused on the franchise & just wants to mess with the neighborhoods and cause chaos (something a great deal of people love to do! pool ladder murders and black widow challenges etc have been here for ages). he represents a group of players who want to play with the dolls and the dollhouse, but makes the dolls be attacked by a toy dinosaur or has the dolls be enemies and fight a little battle to the death. he also gives the devs much more of the benefit of the doubt, (i know plumbella tries and simsie REALLY tries but you can tell when they’ve no hopes for the pack they’re about to play). kevin is simply playing the pack to utilize new gameplay as much as he can to enhance jim’s... “unconventional” sims world. kevin’s absurdist storylines in his gameplay have not only repeatedly helped sims team find small bugs that would likely not have been patched if he weren’t always trying to stretch gameplay features to the absolute limit to create funny & insane scenarios. he gives genuinely positive feedback on the things he enjoys by merely enjoying them publicly without much other thought. most of his criticism, as a player who didn’t come to post a full-on review but just to play the game, mainly points out errors in the expansions the same way any casual player would (ex. “this is so glitchy it’s hard to play, it’s so annoying. anyways,”). EA seems to deem kevin & i’m sure a few other sims players with a pretty big following as well not “wholesome/family-friendly” enough for a free code to review packs bc they play the game in an Inappropriate Manner... a game where remember, *with no mods, you can plow people in a bush that was just pissed in by a drunk person* the sims has never been feckin G rated, i’m sure the murder and drug mods are an issue but he could just..not have those installed & if necessary provide a disclaimer about how his channel doesn’t represent EA’s blahblahblah. it would be easy to send them codes and they could thoroughly benefit from hearing the opinions of more than one type of avid sims player. plumbella and simsie aren’t extremely different in gameplay style because one of them likes to play dolls who are witches and one does not want to play with magic. a completely different type of player is someone like kevin. he has hundreds of sims videos and is visibly fully entertained by the game, buying all the packs, being, quite frankly, a fairly prominent sims youtuber. i didn’t find him through any of the irish lads or any other variety gaming channels, i found him bc steph0sims mentioned him and jim pickens in her fiverr video. the sims team could (and does) benefit immensely from the feedback of sims players who don’t want to play house, but still want to play pretend, and they seem to have a recognition of that but can’t let go of this family friendly image of a game that has NEVER been for very young children. most players of sims started playing this when they were young adolescents or older. sims team, y’EAin’t a wholesome family simulator all the time, let people have fun. as sims team is visibly paying attention to kevin’s content, his opinion of EPs and his fairly big audiences means he has value to them. he deserves recognition from them for doing that, even if it’s just free early access game codes. they benefit from his feedback, they profit from him playing every new pack that is released, and honestly, he’s a nice dude who enjoys their game immensely and makes no roast videos about him so they really need to take any supporter they can right now. i know lilsimsie is often supportive, but in some reviews of bad packs she tries so hard to find good things in a pile of shit that she looks a little bit like EA game changers is pointing a gun at her off camera. kevin’s playthroughs of new packs offer a different kind of authenticity than others because he goes all in looking to play a fun game and it’s probably the most telling that someone who went in a bit weirded out by sims x star wars but still genuinely excited to play it through, also BOUGHT IT TO EXPERIENCE IT since he wasn’t given the code that many “game changers” received from EA for reviews which pretty much began “i would not have ever looked at this or wanted it but they gave me a free code so...” he bought, played, and tried to have fun with this pack of his own accord and came out of it disappointed with the frankly boring gameplay (sims... packs that try to make an action-adventure game out of a life simulator always fail, please no more) as well as how unfinished and small the world was (“SHE IS AT THE CANTINA IS SHE? EVERYONE is ALWAYS AT THE CANTINA”). even approaching it with humor and a truly open mind rather than (justifiable) annoyance about it being a star wars disney ad, kevin was disappointed with the pack because it wasn’t good, functional, or enjoyable! the way he plays sims is just based on telling a story and getting to watch it play out, the same way any legacy family type of player does. they just tell... MASSIVELY different kinds of stories. if the content released can’t provide EITHER of those players, nor players in between, with ways to enhance and change their stories, then it’s not a sims expansion, it’s empty content. the only thing journey to batuu seems to be good for is be a way to pretend to be at disneyland during a quarantine if you’re the sort that used to go a lot & miss it. heck, a blatantly obvious “sims 4 disney world adventure” pack would’ve been cooler and in better taste. i might look beyond the gross money grubbing energy of that one if my sims got to go on roller coasters or something, but i can’t w this star wars land simulator. EA and the sims team need to listen to feedback from their players, all of their players, if they expect their franchise to continue succeeding.

Watching this, I'm once again reminded how much fun a Disney Star Wars destination holiday game pack would've been.
