1:04 the reason that happens is because once a star comes in shape and forms it collapses cause it is unstable but the core is left and debris flies out while the star quickly tries to reform phew my fingers hurt

I really loved how the closest things to stable planets that we saw were really far away. It shows why irl planets are so far away from each other lol. I feel like the issue with this simulation (not criticizing you or SST here, both great) is that the scale is all way off. The place where the sun allowed water to melt was so close to the sun that the planets would be quickly torn apart by tidal forces. Also, the sun was so small that the 'gas giants' were a significant portion of the system's mass. The more stable planets like 'earth' and 'mars' were eventually destroyed because they were orbiting a really inconsistent gravitational center Like, there were some points in the video where I couldn't even tell the difference between the sun and the planets! I do want to restate that I'm not saying that anything needs to change here. I really enjoyed this video and I see that making the system more stable (that is, having a really big star with far less system mass relative to the star's mass) is not feasible for SST and would be a very different sort of video lol

We already have it, it's called SpaceSim by Pavel Sevecek.

Would be pretty intensive, though. The amount of memory in 2D grows at a rate of x^2, but in 3D it's x^3, which means you'd need a lot of memory and VRAM bandwidth to run it at any sane speed.

@@nikkiofthevalley I dont think so, 1 million particles in 2D is the same as 1 mill in 3D except with a third coordinate, so 1.5 times the memory needed. ^3 scaling only happens with voxel stuff. Simulating the particles in 4D would only require twice the memory

So happy to see new videos! lag of Star scene simulation at sizes of 1.2-1.6 million particles should not occur on 4090 video card I checked on my 4090 video card and found out that lag appears after precompilation (in the version in which I do development in raw node.js FPS 65 and in STEAM exe file version of the game - the same scene gives FPS 45 from the start and quickly falls, lag appears) Previously I think that the problem was in STEAM OVERLAY, but now I found out that it looks like the matter is in the precompiled CUDA version of SST, which I use before making an exe file from development version of SST on node.js this is very strange, on the other hand it gives a chance to solve this problem and then the lag will disappear I have noticed before that the version in STEAM works a little slower, but on the gravity Star scene the difference is very noticeable So, I hope I will be able to fix it soon
