Simulation launching of totally enclosed Life boats

The video is created to understand the functioning of lifeboat release mechanism and whole procedure of safe simulation launching of life boats. Many people/crew do not get the opportunity to see actual functioning of lifeboat release mechanism hence get confused to understand the whole operation. This video is created with a great difficulty after assemilating and linking the videos in proper sequence which were shot from different cameras by diifrent people.
One of our key followers rightly pointed out in a private message,
“I think for davit launched lifeboat, it is called launching only not simulation. Simulation is for free fall life boat, required at least once in 6 months.”

Will check again, I included word simulation because of FPD in place during practice, while actual launching doesn’t permit those FPDs in place even during routine launching”

Good video!! 6:16, But I have a suggestion that you should reset the hook first and bring the master link in the hook from the safety latch. It's will be better.

Dear Faey Appreciate you for responding the video, your suggestion may hold good in specific cases such as where the new type of hook system is used as in cases of “Viking Hook” also called as “Nadira Drop in Ball system”. In this new kind of system the falls having ball shaped ends are attached to the securing arrangement on boat at last. Due regards to your suggestions I would like to insists that while operating any safety equipment onboard always follow ship specific makers operating procedures. In my video, we have followed makers operations procedures where it doesn’t allow reseting of hooks before bringing the links in position. Hope it is correctly justified.

Can you please tell me which is embarkation area for boarding lifeboat. Where boat is stowed or main deck level?

I feel it depends upon the type of davits and boats. An open boat if boarded from stowed position is riskier as person may fall off when the davit swings out from it's stowed position where this is not the case with totally enclosed lifeboats. if the davit is arranged in such a way that for lowering the boat it doesn't need to be swing out (as in case of oil platforms) than the boat can be boarded from the stowed position. in that case it doesn't matter whether the boat is an open boat or an enclosed boat.

Good question indeed Sahil, It is the significant wave height which governs the minimum speed requirement of life/rescue boat winch. In simple terms, minimum speed is required to lift the boat from water as quick as possible and by doing so waves effect on hoisting could be minimised. Thank you so much for posting your comments

Hello Arun, thanks for responding the video, In case of complete power failure to motor, there is always an arrangement for lifting the boat with the help of hand lever.

That’s embarkation ladder used during emergency to climb down into life raft or lifeboat. It’s covered to protect the rope, d-shackle and steps from weather because ladder is made of Manila rope and combination of rubber and wooden steps which may get deteriorated due to exposure to weather and sea water.
