Learn to simulate heater block in the Aspen Plus. The heater block is used to simulate both the heating and cooling processes.
Two examples are covered in the tutorial. The first example is related to the heating of an equimolar mixture of benzene and toluene, and the second example is related to the cooling of an equimolar mixture of pentane and hexane.
Hot-stream in this process is cooled down, while cold-stream in the process is heated up. The degree of freedom of this block is 2, which means 2 parameters must be defined to get a solution.

Example # 1:
a) Objective:
Knowing how to increase the temperature of the stream in Aspen Plus.
Recognize the way of using Heater in Aspen Plus.
b) Problem Description:
Calculate duty of the heater required to increase the temperature from 70 to 120oC of 2000 kg/hr that consisted 50 wt% benzene and 50wt% of toluene.
Example # 2:
a) Objective:
An engineer will have a great knowledge of using the heater for air stream in the industry.
Get an understanding of the unit standard set for several units, especially in the gas state mixture example (case scfm and acfm).
Know the importance of the Help function in Aspen Plus.
b)Problem Description:
If 20,000 scfm (60F, 1atm) of the air stream is heated from 200 F to 2000F, calculate the heat transfer rate to bring this temp change.
Example # 3:
a) Objective:
Knowing how to decrease the temperature of the stream in Aspen Plus
Recognize the way of using “Heater” to model the cooler in Aspen Plus.
b) Problem Description:
Calculate cooler duty required to decrease the temperature from 30oC to 0oC of 2000 kg/hr stream that consisted of mixtures of half pentane and hexane.

it will be very nice of you if you can add one video of how to calculate all heat duties and costs for a particular unit operation say distillation and also explaining the equations and parameters involved.

Thank you for the helpful video. If I have stream at 20C and 60 bar and want to get it to 200C and 74 what utility can I use and how do you select it ?

What is the difference between heater and furnace, if i need to heat up from 30C to 400C what is the type i use

Heater is a shortcut method. Furnace isn't. You can use both for the operation, but it's better to keep the process simple at the beginning. So, I would suggest to use heater and then later on, you can replace it with the furnace.
