We are still interested in the instructions though 8 years later, and they are increasingly valuable in today’s matlab version where level-1 sfunction has been totally deleted.

Thank you Matthew for these videos. I'll wait the example where we have derivative equations to solve or state space variables.

Thank you so much for this and the part 1 video! I've been struggling with connecting a device that did not come with Simulink support to the program for some research. This video was incredibly helpful!

Fantastic set of tutorials! I wish they came 3 months earlier when I was doing a project where I was constrained to using Level-1 S-functions because I couldn't understand Level-2 S-functions.

Thank you! It was really helpful. Looking foward for an example with parameters and derivative equations, it's not working here. :)

Hi Matthew. The video was very informative. Can you please put up a video for generating s functions for solving simultaneous ordinary differential equations with initial conditions?

@Matthew Very interesting!!! I followed your steps but when i tried to run the simulink model i keep getting this error 'The expected number of dialog parameters of 'Simulink_file_name' (1) does not match the number of dialog parameters specified in the matlab s-function parameters dialog box (0)' Could you help me in solving this issue? Thanks you!!!

@Matthew Did you think it is possible to stream a real-time data from matlab to simulink using s-func???

Thanks for sharing Matthew, I am trying to do a s-function in order to process data which I am acquiring from an android mobile (real-time), however I get always an error. Do u know if it is possible?

HI +Matthew Rhudy, I have a problem! if I run the simulation matlab told me undefined function or variable "block" and whn I chance the name in the block editor it give me error. should I define the variable block before? thx! Edoardo

Thanks for the videos Matthew they are quite helpful. I have a question, if I would like to use an unitary step function with a step time 5 second as input to trigger the time for the s-function. In other words I would like that the outputs remain = 0, until the s-function detects a change in the step input from 0 to 1, and then starts the computations. Do you have any suggestion for that?

+Dan O You could consider having an input port for the step input, and then just have a simple "if" statement inside the "output" function to define the outputs appropriately, i.e. if step_input < 1, outputs = 0, else, outputs = ...

+Matthew Rhudy Thanks for the reply, it works if the outputs are constants, but if the output depends on time for example output = cos(alpha*t), alpha is a constant and t should start from 0 when the step input reaches 1. Any idea?

+Dan O You could shift the time by the step time, e.g. output = cos(alpha*(t - t_step));

Hi methew, is there any contact detail of yours? I want to use flag initialization can you guide about it. Moreover in video 1 you mentioned about initialze condition for md1, can i use it to reset output
