I hate that he didn't allow her to finish her stories especially after voicing how delicate she was mentally after other terrible interviews. I think she was simply worn out and grieving her son. The world doesn't realise what we have just lost. RIP Sinead there will be no other like u. 💗💗💗💗💗🇦🇺

While I usually get irritated at the way (generally male) interviewers had a way of cutting off or interrupting Sinead's comments, in this case I think there were two things going on - first, I think the interviewer knew they only had a half an hour and he was hoping to have some time to discuss music and possibly other topics but also, and most important, Zoom has an audio delay on both sides so it often sounds like people are talking over each other during a conversation. Considering the technical difficulties of the the format I thought he was being quite respectful.

Sinead O’Connor is a brave, intelligent, articulate, beautiful and powerful artist. Huge respect for her. She was never “crazy” nor was she “cancelled” as an artist. She has created an enormous body of work over the decades of simply outstanding and meaningful music. In the early ‘90’s she was 25 years ahead of her time in her calling out of violence, abuse and injustice. Everything she was saying is true and the world now knows it. There is so much we can learn from this woman. She is a treasured and highly important artist of our time. The book is excellent.

Thank you. In Ireland some consider her a prophet of sorts. Had she been a man and this was a different time shoe would have been considered as one and respects for her genius and wisdom and not abused for it. I’m so sad she’s gone now. There’s needs to be more celebrities/role models/artists like her. She could never lie in anything she did. I just ordered the book

I never realized how extraordinary she was, everyone goes through times where their health suffers mentally & I truly get what she is saying because society expects way to much of us when we are struggling with new or past traumas, physically or mentally, Sinead is so authentic, fair & honest about societies hidden secrets. Keep shining because what you gave to us was light & truth & I can't stop listening to you, if I could choose 2 words to describe Sinead, wisdom & bravery. I wish she could have lived long enough to be with the elderly to help them pass over feeling loved because it is so important, I got to be there for my mother's passing, imagine having Sinead sing for the last sound you heard on earth. RIP❤

YOU go SINEAD. You're STILL beautiful. Yeah, I ADMIRED you immediately when you tore that picture of the pope, and said those unforgettable words: FIGHT THE REAL ENEMY!" A person from Ireland would definitely UNDERSTAND the TRUE machinations of Roman Catholicism. I'm glad to see that you still stand by what you DID AND & SAID THAT NITE ON SNL. Stay true to God and yourself girl. 🎶🔊🌹

I had no idea what she had gone through until 2 weeks ago, I was born in Bulgaria, I remember her on MTV and radio and I never knew that she suffered so much. I haven't been able to stop thinking about that and how her life on earth may have been hell, but there is a special place for her soul up in the realms because of that. She is so strong and I trully wish that she finds some peace within in her daily life. 💚

Sinead has healed me many times with her ethereal voice and her sharp tongue. She is a mirror for so much of the pain of my own life. There is a catharsis that is unique in her music and performances; a catharsis that can and has been imitated but I don't believe can be replicated. She is very much the Dylan of my generation, though her name deserves it's own rites and not to be compared. I enjoyed this interview and that she could talk freely and seemed to have a good rapport with the interviewer.

Sinéad O'Connor has a huge catalogue of great music. From "Lion and the Cobra" to "I Do Not Want..." to "Faith and Courage" and much more. She's incredibly talented and her songs are timeless. It's fucked up how bad she was treated over the years but I have to thank her for going through what she went through so that other artists coming won't have to. "Mandinka", "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "No Man's Woman" are my personal favorites.

Read halfway through her book and it's heart breaking and funny but above all inspiring🙏💚🎶 Sinead is so right about equating mental illness with dangerous people is really harmful and it's just not true! I see those with mental illness(suffer with it myself from childhood trauma) as incredibly sensitive people who can find it hard to deal with insensitive harsh society's who just want to put label's on you and still a huge lack of understanding around mental health issues. We still have a sense of humour and compassion 🙏 I feel Sinead has helped alot of people with her music and this book to not feel quite so isolated with this serious illness but there is much more to our story than just that💚🎶

Seeing the footage of her younger self now....I am just taken with how stunningly, hauntingly, delicately beautiful she was. She bore so much pain and yet never ever stopped speaking out the truth of her pain and all the injustice she saw, and her tired face just showed the thick skin she developed after all the beating. But her eyes had the same vulnerability. 😢. I am not sad she is free from the cloud of pain that never left her! And i am sad she watched CNN that cunning network of lies all the time. She sadly developed habits that kept her trauma alive! CNN is terrible for everyone's mental health.

Yes and I think had she had the right type of support, she might have stopped giving interviews like Dylan and Morrison. I don’t think she’d developed methods of self-preservation and protection. I think ‘not giving in’ was her approach, but totally traumatising because she wasn’t being protected. My heart breaks for her, such a beautiful principled person.

I wanted to understand mental health illnesses so I became a mental health nurse. I preferred the patients to the staff. I learner so much. No one person with schizophrenia is the same. After a little while I could see a person and know what illness they had. It was a great job but then the system changed it and moved the patients and staff from a hospital right by the ocean over to a suburban Hospital. Everything changed, I hated it and left soon after. That was well over 10 years ago. I can cry over that. I too have trauma that I have holed up in my mind and I just can't see it. Even to God I have said no, I can't bear to remember. My brother had schizophrenia. He is a wonderful human being. So self controlled. Sinead, you will be a true priest in heaven, our time here is short, after death is eternal life. Lovely lady. She went through so much in her childhood, shredded by the media, her co artists, treated like a stray dog. Now that she's passed artists like Pink and Tori Amos giving her recognition at their concerts. Where the hell were these people when she was suffering personally, dissed by the media, blackballed by the music industry? NOWHERE to be found. Morrissey addresses this recently, I believe on his Twitter. The ONLY one who had her back. May she rest in eternal peace.☘️🌹💐☘️

Thank you for pointing this out. I just felt there was something different but wasn't sure what it was.

Yeah, she was true to herself, hijab or not. Also, last time she was on the video, ten days before passing, she didn't wear hijab. But then again, this video interview was for two years ago. But with that said, she kinda reminded me of my grandmother, only wore it when she felt like it.

Sinead is a diamond, a nugget, she's definitely not from our dirty planet! She is clean, honest, and has never buckled under anyone! Ireland, you didn't save her! You didn't give her a helping hand, but only oppressed her as a person! She has glorified your country! although you are a very small country. Sinead, she put her soul into every song, and when she performed, she lived it. Each of her songs is a MASTERPIECE!!! SHE has no equal! 💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏

7:59 - I agree with her about that. She’s absolutely right. There!s a difference between evil and mental illness.
