I believe what he is saying is true, I know it is. How do you fit into this?

I've never heard that God suffered like Christ did. Where can I find this that you speak of in scriptures?

The source I know of is in the King Follett Discorse by Joseph Smith.

Sometimes I wonder. Is my suffering a result of my choices before or after I was baptized? I can't undo the consequence of my choices. Because I continue to suffer does that mean my repentance wasn't genuine with a broken heart and a contrite spirit?

If you're seriously worried about it, you could talk to your bishop ❤️

I’m inclined to think you were sincere but the natural consequences cannot be sponged out in this lifetime. For example: previous lifestyle choices result in disease. Those consequences (AIDS/Herpes) will not likely be resolved in this lifetime. However, godly sorrow is a result of understanding that you offended your father in heaven. That is something that takes a while to finally relinquish. Remember that to take full advantage of the atonement of Jesus you must give your sins to him. Then praise him and remember him always in your happiness due to your freedom from sin.

I’ve heard we will always remember our sins even though we’ve repented as a way to never want to repeat them. The fact that you are still suffering is maybe that you are focusing and dwelling on your past mistakes too much. Im thinking a new thought might serve you better like I have made sins and mistakes like everyone else in the world and that’s okay because I’ve repented. Heavenly Father knew we would all make sins and mistakes and that is why he sent His Son so we can repent. We all need to apply the enabling power of the atonement in our lives by having faith in a forgiving and loving Father in Heaven. Satan whispers the lie that we can never be forgiven.

Sometimes it's much harder to forgive ourselves than for us to obtain forgiveness from Christ.
