@JoelBrewton 2 жыл бұрын
@@ohana-bordi An understudy is a backup actor who goes on stage in the event that the principle actor is unable to perform. For example, I was Kenickie's understudy in Grease when I was in college. I got to perform in one of the ten shows that we did because the main Kenickie actor wasn't feeling well one night. In this case, Colton Ryan would have played Connor, Evan, or Jared in the event that Mike Faist, Ben Platt, or Will Roland weren't up to the task on any of the nights.

I think the guy who plays Connor deserved more than one song that doesn’t fit into the rest of the movie in any way. Sincerely Me is one of my favorite songs in the entire show, but without any other moments of dark comedy, it just seems like a mid-movie hallucination. Man, if this show/movie would have just been leaned into how dark this whole scenario is and kept this dark comedy energy throughout, it would have really made this story a lot more palatable in both the movie and the stage show. Pretending it’s all totally normal is at very least, twisted, and at most, downright sociopathic.

While I really don’t like this movie I really like this scene and it’s my favorite scene of the movie as it has really dynamic choreography and camera work that isn’t really shown in the rest of the film, I like the long shot of Connor in the library and him dancing on the table while everybody else doesn’t react to it (Only in the musicals folks) not to mention this version of the song is actually pretty good and is only one of 3 songs from the musical that I felt were really great in the movie. The only complaint I can think of is the instrumental while good is WAY too loud and makes everyone really hard to hear, so overall a great scene that deserved a better movie. Also has anyone notice that Connor in this movie sounds like NICKtendo it kinda confused me as an avid watcher of his, seriously watch one of his videos then listen to Sincerely Me you’ll know what I’m talking about.

In all fairness, the dance scenes in this are impressive because most of them are just one shot. Now, I don’t care for Jared in this film, but I don’t know. He’s funny in the Broadway version of this song but in this version of the song he’s just kind of annoying. But I don’t know, could just be me. I also am not the hugest fan of this one because the singing in this sounds a little delayed, but also the instruments are just louder and I am not the hugest fan that they changed some parts of the song in this. I don’t know, could all just be me. If you like this version, then that’s completely fine. In all fairness as well, you have to realize that real people worked hard on this and that they put in hours to get the final product to look and feel right and sound pleasing, so all props to them. But, I am just fine listening to the Broadway version of this song

I don't know a thing about the original musical or the movie but the fact that Connor says the erotic part right when he passes by an LGBTQ+ flag was perfect XD

Ben Platt is a great actor and an amazing singer. The problem is that he just looked way too old to be playing Evan. He was 27 when they shot this film

this scene could have been a lot better if they had connor as a sort of ghost in evans bedroom, looking over them as they wrote the letters. the jumps back and forth between connor and evan were really sloppy and just bad

This movie was tonally weird. It was a bummer that Evan didn’t any kind of final scene for closure with Connor’s mother (Amy Adams), as I felt their relationship was the most endearing. But I guess that’s reality…he lied and will never be close with the family again. Certainly not an uplifting movie, if that’s what they were going for.
