Days after India served a formal notice to Pakistan seeking review of the Indus Water Treaty, Islamabad on Thursday reacted for the first time. Pakistan said it considers the agreement important and expects India to abide by the provisions of the bilateral pact signed 64 years ago. On Wednesday, government sources said India had sent a formal notice to Pakistan on August 30 seeking review of the 64-year-old agreement, citing fundamental and unforeseen changes in circumstances and the impact of continuing cross-border terrorism.
इस्लामाबाद: भारत द्वारा सिंधु जल संधि की समीक्षा के लिए पाकिस्तान को औपचारिक नोटिस दिए जाने के कुछ दिनों बाद, इस्लामाबाद ने गुरुवार को पहली बार प्रतिक्रिया दी। पाकिस्तान ने कहा कि वह इस समझौते को महत्वपूर्ण मानता है और उम्मीद करता है कि भारत भी 64 साल पहले हस्ताक्षरित इस द्विपक्षीय समझौते के प्रावधानों का पालन करेगा। बुधवार को सरकारी सूत्रों ने कहा कि भारत ने 30 अगस्त को पाकिस्तान को एक औपचारिक नोटिस भेजकर 64 साल पुराने समझौते की समीक्षा की मांग की थी, जिसमें उसने परिस्थितियों में मौलिक और अप्रत्याशित बदलावों और सीमा पार से लगातार जारी आतंकवाद के प्रभाव का हवाला दिया था।
