Correct, I totally agree. Howevr M'sia not only so-much needs to get good fighter-jets, but much x2 more of them in-fact, at no further delays. Instead of the embarrassingly pathetic, what? 8 meager units of the formidable, "Night-Attack" capable F/A-18Ds. On learning of current regional massive armament aggregation process undertaken by certain ambitious neighbors. We shud in-fact by now, already as well in the serious process of marking-up our (Her) defense capability in all 3 Services of our esteemed National Defense Forces w/o anymore of the usual furnishing of naivety to the outlook of very challenging developments presenting in brazen against our integrity & most importantly our priceless, absolutely non-negotiable;- "sovereign-independence/break-away" from the old archipelago. Wholly made possible to us, (Aww..so easily in courteous, good-natured mannerism w/o evn having to senselessly resort to violent blood spilling against the Colonial-masters of the day), by the Brits.

Even @0:21 and @1:15 seconds it turns 180° under 2 seconds displaying incredible 90° per second turn rate and the amazing thing is it still didn't lose speed or altitude turning that tight. Amazing plane both in terms of looks and handling

f22 would engage and shoot multiple of these down from 100mile range... and it wouldnt even see the raptor... smh.. this is great for airshows... but, cobra maneuvers are for show.. and thats it.. real Air superiority is information and the ability to shoot first...and thats the facts.

+b00stedrust you forgot it takes a hell lot of time to service a f22 for each hour spent flying, and the reliability is simply horrible. And then you have the f35. A plane that is unreliable will lose in the longer run, even if it's got more mettle upfront.

You watch too much China television friend. Everything China makes is unreliable ..thus why they used 40+ year old Russian engines in thier jets.. the only 5th gen jets in the world that are in service are American.. everything else is years out. China and Russian included.

Cobra is for the show, sure, but it displays incredible level of maneuverability, specifically high angle of attack maneuverability, at low speeds and dangerous flight attitudes to which close combat deteriorates very quickly after one or two high energy traditional 'corner' turns. Soviets, and now Russians have since 4th generation (MiG-29 and Su-27) developed high maneuverability fighters, well ahead of anything west had and currently has in its arsenal, with the specific capability to quickly turn and point their weapons systems on target, with targeting systems (IRST, helmet mounted sight...) and off-boresight missiles giving them a huge advantage in close combat engagement. F-22 tries to mimic some of this capability, employing thrust vectoring and similar systems, but it's still no match in close combat for an Su-35 for example, and MiG-35 which are not 5th generation fighters. Now you are right in saying that air superiority is information and ability to shoot first, but against equal opponent that comes from early warning systems such as AWACS and ground radar, and even then 100% accuracy is never guaranteed. IFF systems have been known to fail. By the time aircraft close to verify, you have a dogfight at which point in hands of similarly skilled pilots, Su-30 has a distinct advantage. Also I don't know where you got the idea that it will not detect an F-22? Is F-22 not visible? I assure you, it would detect it and it would have the ability to retaliate at that exact same range.

i mean missiles can be fired from over 100miles away.. raptor is just as good in the air as the su... and well.. lower radar cross section says the f22 will shoot first.. and... yeah. thats the whole design... and it works.. which is why raptor made over 200 kills and zero losses from BVR at its first redflag event in 2008.. they banned BVR fighting after that... and India was there with thier su's.. england with eurofighter and f15s...or do you think russia and china are spending billions making their own stealth fighters cuz it isnt a proven idea? :P

+Joseph Pepel The Su-30 isn't ANYWHERE close to the f-22 in air superiority. In red flag 2008 Su-30 mki's got there asses handed to them by f-15's and f-22's. Its a good plane though but no were near the 5th Gen F-22.

itom95 Sounds like india paraganda. Rain does not effect the f-22 or expose its stealth. Maybe a mig-29N can detect it if it came really close but the chances of that happening are extremely slim.

There are several maneuvers before the pilot did what is called a Pugachev Cobra. Then he went into a controlled tailspin. What an awesome display of air maneuverability by a skilled pilot. When are we going to incorporate 360 thrust vectoring into our fighters and attack planes?

Precisely what I say too, Sir..U like.., took the words right outta my mouth. That if U were to take to watch South Africa Air Force's Col.Blokkies Joubert's expert-handling his Gripen video right here on YT too & the largely away-zoomed focus, if not actually an entirely panoramic shot by the bright & thoughtful cameraman. That vid, by me was the best way to film fighter-jet shots & it's pre..cisely like what U opined, camera persons shud by-right, nevr try being "the aircraft's Wingman !!"by following the jet up-close. This can present a purported effect of a sequential speed-run of still-slides from a what's now obsolete automatic slides-projector.

Malaysia bought 16 numbers SU30 and never fire any single missile until today only see in the drill not in the real battle fiel. The F18D Malaysia was in real battle in the Lahad Datu and firing the real missile and hit the target together with the hawk 200. At least the Malaysia should try the SU30 too then we can evaluate which 1 is the better aircraft.

The MKMs are like Italian sport cars, overpowered high maintenance sexy jet. Sadly, much of it usage are for air shows. The Hornets on the other hand are like German cars, economical, practical and no-nonsense, which is why it is always RMAF favourite as the go to asset for real action. The MKMs might be RMAF poster boy but the 20+ years old Hornets will always be the darlings of RMAF.

Impressive. However, in discussing with F-15 pilots that fought against it, they're not worried. Cited the fact they won 77 out of some 90 or so engagements. This would square up with the Indian's SU-30MKI experience at Mountain Home. As always, it's the pilot that makes the difference when machines are matched. The Flanker is (airframe wise) at least the Eagle's equal, though not in avionics/weapons. The SU-35 is a marginal improvement, but all Flankers fall far short of the F-22..
