Hey there, during the line measurement segment, I was a little skeptical as you used a bottom fishing sinker and had the float be aligned exactly with the water, meaning the hook would be around 2cm off the bottom. Is it meant to be like that?

Well, 2cm is still okay because (1) the prawns can reach it and (2) the ground is uneven so if you shift a bit, you will be off your measurement anyway even if you are very accurate. Lastly, you can compensate the distance of the weight by setting the float a bit higher or lower. I can do a video about my professional prawning set if you seriously think 1mm or 2mm matters that much. The important thing is to have fun and not lose yourself into the technical details.

Any tips on how long to wait before striking?

When the float stops moving, you count to 3 for the prawn to put the food to its mouth, then you strike.

Is there a reason why you don't pluck the claw out after catching them? Won't it pinch you when getting it out of the net?

It doesnt hurt much. Most people are not bothered and we normally just dump them in the basin or bucket.

Usually I don’t care about the length of the line. When I get the house rod I’ll just pull the line slightly longer. Line too short can’t get prawn, line too Long prawn can still hold on to the bait just need to slowly drag the line to see if float sink or not. But arh, when I do this method, 10 strikes maybe 5 times set the hook properly, always hook at weird places like pincers or feelers. Sometimes never even hook, just the line tangled on the pincers

Hey there, is there anything I should know about prawning with a weighted hook? (1.5g sinker built into the hook)

I use that to drag across the pond bed to wack the prawns. I do that without float or bait. But thats me.
