one- north is named this way as it is situated within the one-north development which spans from AYE and all the way to the estate near Holland Village. It's all small letters and a hyphen due to the branding requirements by JTC.

@ucm1313
@ucm1313 4 жыл бұрын
@@hugeretartedsawas "Dhoby Ghaut or Dhobi Ghat (Hindi: धोबी घाट, IAST: Dhobī Ghāṭ) literally means washerman's place in Hindi, from dhobi, "washerman" or one that does laundry, and ghat, referring to a series of steps leading down to a body of water, as in the case of the Varanasi ghats by the Ganges. The Hindi term ghat passed into English usage during the British occupation of India, and was later anglicised to ghaut" (Wikipedia, 2020).

Actually it is more common (around me at least) to refer to/ name a locality after it’s nearest MRT station, than the other way round. ie. Even if LTA or whoever gives a completely random name to a MRT station, ppl will start referring to the immediate surroundings by that name ie. I refer to the HC/NY/NJC area as TKK now

Station names changed to reflect locations? So explain to me how St. Andrews became City Hall when the station is at St Andrew's and not at City Hall? You can't even see the old City Hall when you emerge from the station but St Andrew's would be in your face (if it wasn't for the big trees hiding most of it).
