We used to go mountain biking there in the early 2000s and end up having seafood at one of those restaurants by the sea, so much have changed now.
@WONDERLUSTworld6 күн бұрын
They have more rugged off road biking trails too but we haven't don't them yet and feel we'd need biked with better breaks and gears to tackle them. The restaurant is still there. I think we ate there once a long time ago now.

@WONDERLUSTworld Mostly Kampong n want to go anywhere need to walk now can see the changes n is there a well for you to shower bn a plain was water?
@___Danny___5 күн бұрын
back then the obs was on the right side of the island , there used to be no paved cycling paths, no public toilets . Some of the houses in the kampung are still occupied, you get to use water wells for your water. Need to register at the police station at the jetty point. Night time there ain’t public lamp out there , its total darkness. Also there is one old comfort cab running there , any local pickup you can hitch a ride with a small fees

Love a good monitor sighting, they are so majestic. 😭 And abandoned houses in the middle of the woods creep me out lol. Looks iffy enough in the daytime; I imagine it’s terrifying at night. 😬
@WONDERLUSTworld6 күн бұрын
Yes, it does feel like you’re walking through a scene from a horror film. We’ll have a sungai Buloh vlog coming in the next few weeks, we saw the biggest monitor lizard of our lives. More like some sort of dinosaur!

Excellent video - thanks. How do-able is Pulau Ubin if you're on foot? It must be nearly 40 years since either of us cycled anywhere.... there are lots of hills where we live!
@WONDERLUSTworld5 күн бұрын
You can easily do Pulau ubin by foot. It really isn’t that large at all. Maybe just look up the routes so you know which ones you want to do to allow enough time. Take plenty of water and food but don’t eat near the monkeys 🙈

I love Ubin! Thank you for taking me there again vicariously. I’ll wait for sunnier weather to make my next trip! Puaka hill is one of my favourite spots too. Can you fly a drone in Ubin?
@WONDERLUSTworld5 күн бұрын
It really is such a special place. No you can’t fly a drone sadly. I’d love to see that place from the sky.

@WONDERLUSTworld6 күн бұрын
Those cats were so funny! I'm not sure what they were arguing about. Did you catch the auntie spraying them with water in the background of Jonty talking? Seems like a common thing as she was prepared haha This little island is so worth a visit if you get a chance.

@WONDERLUSTworld5 күн бұрын
Wow, it seems pretty wild now. Any stories you can share?
@___Danny___4 күн бұрын
@ night time people from across do swim over , that why the army or the gurkhas do patrol along the beaches with m16. nowadays technology do the walk. beside the usual wild animals you see nowadays, they captured 2 wild elephants on the island before , swam across from JB. While the mainland banned firecrackers and fireworks, we had our countdown there and setting off fireworks and firecrackers.

Hi guys... After 6-7 years in SG only Jonty still have the thick british accent amongst u guys considering his parents n him were born here. Was it deliberate? Did he teach in a international school or public
@WONDERLUSTworld6 күн бұрын
Hey, I think the children's accents have changed a lot with them being younger, their brains pick it up more. We also find when they learn a new word they seem to learn it in the accent it was taught to them in. So they have a mix of local and American sounding words now. It's quite interesting. We have a mix of international and local friends, we both work in an international school. Jonty's accent tends to become more local depending on who is he speaking with. He spent most of his childhood in the Uk so I guess that's the accent that has stuck.
@noorirwan6866 күн бұрын
@WONDERLUSTworld the kids n u too have kool accent, mix of british n SG n american😎
@noorirwan6866 күн бұрын
@@WONDERLUSTworld but weird thing is when we migrate to foreign countries, we suddenly talk in their accent in just 2-3years. My aunt, cousin n brother moved to goldcoast, holland n usa.. i guess they find its high class accent😅

My sister has been travelling for over 15 years now and spent alot time in Australia and has picked up that accent.

We’re noticing Milo’s is starting to change, also more depending on who he is spending time with too. He has a few American friends. Aspen’s was the first to noticeably change.

@WONDERLUSTworld5 күн бұрын
Oh I didn’t know that! I’ve just been looking it up, KZbin has some old videos of it! We’ve seen it there but didn’t know that’s what it was. All the abandoned chalets.
@___Danny___4 күн бұрын
@ Remember beside the chalets room , there is a open swimming pool , kayaking, bbq pit , pool table , archery and a flying fox facility. they got their own jetty and the boat pickup is at punggol marina club. that all i could remember.
@WONDERLUSTworld4 күн бұрын
Yeah that’s matches up with what we saw online. We found an old KZbin video someone made where they flew a drone over there and you can see it all from above. Guess it didn’t make the money it needed. It would be cool to stay over there but have it as a conservation holiday stay. That way it wouldn’t get as spoilt as if you stay there you onto help with conservation or to learn about the plants and wild life there.
