Actually Singapore is a very budget friendly destination. I spent 2 weeks in Singapore and spent about 50 euros (60 USD) on average per day (accommodation included). Of course if you stay in a nice hotel and eat at restaurants every night (which you shouldn't, because hawker centers offer hands down the best food in Singapore) you can easily spend a lot of money in Singapore. Or anywhere else for that matter. For people who do some research up front and don't mind staying in a hostel (there are some very nice, inexpensive dorms in Singapore, warmly recommend capsule hostels for those who like their own privacy), Singapore is a fantastic place to visit even on a budget!
@jr400rl6 жыл бұрын
what (cheap) capsule hotel do you recommend which is near the raffles place mrt station?
@josephweeks38156 жыл бұрын
Well Lostleblanc probably has deals with fancy hotels and restaurants to mention them in his video in exchange for free places to stay and pay of some sort im sure. Which is why he probably focuses on the more expensive side of being there.
@calebjones48296 жыл бұрын
I understand what you are saying but if we look at it relative to what you get for your money in other countries, Singapore accommodation is more expensive than Canada easily (and way way way more expensive than other south east Asia designations). Yes, you can find "deals" but for those who want to have their own washroom you'll find you might be thinking...might as well stay in a better place (forced up market paying CDN$120 a night). Also, everyone knows about the MRT so if you think you can save money by staying farther away from the center you'll again find yourself thinking...might as well be in a better area for the price.

Clarke Quay is our clubbing central, its not open in the day time haha! Singapore is more than the touristy places you went to. You need to visit Geylang, Kampong Bahru to experience Malay food and culture. You need to try the chicken rice as well for sure! Haji Lane is the hipster place of Singapore, specialty coffee shops, cafes, bars and tattoo shops are there. You should go to Sentosa (the beach) and Henderson Wave for the nature.

36stroke look at the title of the video "Travel Guide". Who stated a travel guide is meant to have all the good elements within a country? Also she said that Christian LeBlanc should go to Sentosa "for the nature" which is a perfectly fair comment as a huge portion of Singapore is urban and developed. Nothing wrong with what she said in my opinion.

Hello, I’m glad that you enjoyed your time here. Singapore consists of 4 main races: Chinese, MALAYS, Indians & Eurasians. FYI, Malaysia is a country whereas MALAY is a race, a language & a culture. Since I am a Malay (race) & was born & bred in Singapore (city/state/country/island nation), that makes me a Malay Singaporean, not a Malaysian (citizen) The word Malay (race/language/culture) and Malaysian (citizens of Malaysia) has two very different meanings. Thought you should know. Have a good day. 🤓

You should have taken the subway MRT. In the city your never more then a 5 min walk from a station. It's very inexpensive, very very clean, very brightly lit, and it's all in English. There is even an official Singapore MRT app that will walk you through all your connections, from one point on the city map to another point. When traffic gets backed up, the MRT is faster then a taxi. You really missed out on a very clean efficient way to go.

Nice video. On transportation: you don’t hail a cab just anywhere in Singapore. That would cause issues with traffic. Suspect this was the reason for your taxi troubles. So instead, you catch a cab at designated taxi stands. They’re everywhere. And I never had issues with Uber. Moot now since it’s been folded into the local version - Grab. Give it a try. It works.

It has some pretty good bars and nightclubs but also gets very crowded after dark. - The 73 story Swiss Hotel was formally Westin Stamford Raffles was the TALLEST HOTEL in the WORLD when construction was finished back in 1986. - Forget Uber and Taxis - Singapore has one of the best public transport systems on Earth and links just about every major destination on the island. - In my opinion Singapore is the best food city in the world.

Like other people have said, you can visit on a budget. I went with a group of friends and it wasn’t that expensive. Orchard Road was expensive shopping, but if you want super cheap market style go to Bugis Street! Also, take the MRT. It’s super cheap, fast and clean. It will literally take you anywhere you want to go! Christian hits a lot of the touristy spots, but they really are a must. 10/10 would recommend. But it’s also super humid!!

Great video of one of my favorite spots in the world. Regarding the difficulty catching a taxi - the drivers are only supposed to stop at officially designated taxi ranks. They don't really do random stops. Some will, if it is late at night and quiet, but the best thing is find a taxi rank, there are many, especially connected to shopping centers and large public buildings, and join the queue. You'll be in a taxi in five minutes.

Singapore is good for exploring on foot because the area around Marina Bay is the real hotspot to see. It's all manageable and walkable. That area is bounded by the Sheares Bridge (east), Esplanade Drive at Merlion (west), Raffles Avenue (north) and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel district (south). You can rent a scooter for $80 SGD a day if you know how to ride a bike and have a licence. Obey the road rules, however. Further out, you can go to Sentosa Island and the botanic gardens. Fifty percent of the Singapore highrise skyline is hotels. There's _lots_ of them.

I've stayed in Marina Bay Sands for one night. I think the room was so-so, but the pool was one of must go, they got pretty view there. To be honest I think Singapore is more for like just looking around the city & the food is great in there. People are nice & well-educated. If you are thinking about visit there, I literarily think it's a good choice.

Also you can easily travel ard via the MRT instead of Uber-ing everywhere haha Another tip is to check out Timeout's event guide list the week you're travelling!
