Houses are getting smaller, cars are getting INSANELY expensive. It's a huge challenge to travel in a private car if you have more than two kids. I'm from Singapore. I beg to differ. I agree due to the countries small size you have to let go of some luxury like own big houses or owning affordable cars. If you ignore these two, as a citizen you are very well taken care of. Salaries you earn here and the strength of Singapore dollar makes the cost of living manageable. You also enjoy very generous subsidies from the government. Every year during budget the government only increase and adding more subsidies for it's citizens. And the biggest plus living in Singapore is Malaysia is right across. If you want to quick weekend get away or do cheap shopping, just take a train and cross the border and you immediately enjoy enjoy 3x cheaper food, shopping and recreation..

Not for foreigners. If you are a foreigner and you can't find a job after you finish your masters or your employment pass or PR is getting rejected without reason or you are stuck not able to own property here and pay high rent or you don't have access to affordable government subsidy or your kids cannot get access to affordable education in the public school.. that is your own problem. Nobody is forcing you to stay here. Just go somewhere else where it will work out better for you. Who are you to demand Singapore to treat foreigners and it's citizens on equal footing. But for the rest of the citizens here, I can say Singapore is not bad. It is the cheapest first world country. You are earning in a strong currency and Malaysia is just 10mins across the border. I cross over to Malaysia for my dentist appointment. 3x cheaper than doing in Singapore. Can you have this privilege living in Europe or Australia or US?
