I tried vocal exercises and i couldn't do them consistently coz i found them silly and useless until i watched this video. Now i understand why vocal coaches like making student practice; oh oh oh oh, eh eh eh eh and ah ah ah. Now i'm more than motivated to start practicing those shapes. Thank you Lisa.

I was wondering how to get rid of straining in singing high notes. But when I focused on giving emphasis on the vowel sounds I noticed a pretty big improvement on clarity in my singing.

There are so many 'vowel modification' cues that teachers offer, but putting it in a context like this doesn't always or even often happen. Bravo and thank you! Appreciate you offering your PDF's to folks as well.

Thank you for your outstanding, practical insight on effective vocal techniques! Did vocalists like Aretha Franklin, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Streisand to name a few have access to these techniques or did they just discover them through trial-and-error??🤔

If we just learn how and practice where each vowel modifies, then we don’t need a chart. All this becomes embedded through vocal exercises. There’s also such a thing as “passive vowel modification” that Speech Level Singing uses.

The amount of future singers this is going to help is immense. Thank you so much for your inspirational videos. What the performance world would have been like without Lisa and these tutorials, is the question ;) Very grim I imagine

this chart is amazing. I'd kinda been working stuff like this out by singing "OHHH" and adding a H to an O sound. This chart will speed up progress a lot, vowels are one of the hardest and most influential parts of singing :')

You know, I did notice that certain singers I like tend to go up in pitch on ‘you’ in a variety of songs, and that would be the last word in the phrase. For example, Whitney Houston(I will always love you, Run To You, Saving all my love (for you)). I know she didn’t write all these songs, but that’s not the point, cause she performed these songs beautifully and she had a way of playing with the ‘you’ in these songs, recorded and live, pitch up and down, so smooth. I thought that was just the singers preference. But now I see the reasoning why that ‘you’ works so well. That chart would be especially important to songwriter/singers because they can arrange the words to make singing on pitch easier.
