I loved your video. I've never had a serger before and have been sewing since childhood. I heard they were hard to use and let the fear of others block me. Well at 60yrs old I got this serger. I love it! It took me and hour to really understand the treading. Chalk that up to ole eyes..lol Now thanks to you and a few other KZbinrs I feel like a pro.. BTW I intend to copy your idea about the disc.

Diana, I just pulled this serger out of the box and was totally intimidated by everything behind that looper cover! I also viewed your double chain stitch tutorial and they are the best I've found! Your pace is just right, your explanations are clear, and your "'oop's" provide learning, as well. I hope that you will continue to make more video tutorials on this serger and help those of us who are beginning serging with the Singer 14T968DC Professional 5 ease those 'too complicated' issues.

Diana, I see that you have had your serger for almost 4 years now. I am watching this as I have my brand new one today. What a tremendous help you are and you have done absolutely wonderful. You really helped me in some simple tasks. It can be so overwhelming but if you take your time and just a little hint, if you use a labeler and label all the buttons and dials into words instead of initials, then you can really get things going too and it looks good on the machine. Thank you again Diana, you are an absolute sweetheart and I appreciate all you have done for those who seek help like this. Perfectly done...

KZbin and the internet has lots of info on sergers, threads, weights you can use for different fabrics etc. You are basically governed by the needles you use for the thread weight used in the needles. The loopers can handle much thicker or heavier threads, if need be. Most garments you'll want to use softer threads, as opposed to upolstery weights for say blankets or quilting. Depending on the project you're doing, will help determine the threads you'll use or should use. The info is out there, just go read or watch videos. But above all test out the thread, and fabric with scrap pieces before doing any sewing or serging. Always, always, always!!!

This is an awesome machine....looks intimidating but it is actually very easy to use. Just wish I can find the set of feet in S.A.....when I bought the machine it only came with the standard foot.....it was rather disappointing.
