My 215G arrived today. It is pristine. Beautiful. Jaunty. Black. Heavy. It has gold detailing and "Made in Germany" around the base of the right bottom harp area. Motor and foot pedal made in Great Britain and similar to other Singers. Doesn't look like it was every used. The case is beautiful and well-made. Someone wrote their name on it and scratched out another's...but it is finely done. The manual is in French! PINU...amen sistah! It's a workout to pick it up. The base was in perfect condition and had the flip table to the right. It is solid something...looks like maple or alderwood. The machining for the race is extraordinary as is the pressure knob. No big light, the regular one as yours. It has abraded against the back of the machine, the only blemish. Mine doesn't have a turnbuckle as heavy as yours. Rather a metal swivel with a piece of leather that goes through a hole to both keep it from scratching the base and providing tension. I had to adjust the foot pedal as it was stiff, and it had no low speed. Easy task (Thank you Google). I'm really happy to have this machine, and I appreciate your contribution to the knowledge base. Of course when I die, it will be part of my estate sale where others will come and pick over and get a good deal! Or it goes to Goodwill, where I've simply made a deferred contribution.

I have one, in black. It's not all that heavy, folks, not compared to my 216G or heaven forbid the Kenmore 16. And the weight brings solidity and stability. As far as quality of stitch goes, this one is right up there. Better than my 201, better than my 1200 , better than my 15-125, better than my Pfaff 30. I honestly don't believe the quality of the stitch can be improved upon. For my day-to-day use, I migrate to the Singer 216G, because it has a very nice straight stitch as well and very precise feeding. It will also take a size 23 needle and feed TEX90 thread reliably, and has a built-in zigzag. But if you're looking to do a perfect topstitch in heavy fabrics or light leathers, and nothing but that, get you a 215. It won't disappoint.

I found one several years ago, in its original case with attachments and the original sales receipt in German. It was probably purchased by a military wife stationed in Germany. My machine is mocha but my light (the swinging lamp) is black. It sew great. I've looked every where for info on this machine. Would love to know the value of it. I use it for heavy duty straight sewing. Glad to see there are others out there.

Hi, as a German, the scale on the stitch length diagram is pretty easy: it indicates the stich length in mm. For me it is much more complicated to read for example 8 stitches per inch on your machines, because of „our“ metric system.

I've watched the bobbin part 10 times, but can't work out where you're pressing at the back and to click it into bobbin mode. I've got this exact model!

Do you have a website for selling/buying information?

The Japanese and European machines have their stitch length in millimetres. So 4 would mean 4mm.
