Singer 29 - what to look for / nice to have accessories.

Just bought a 1943 vintage 29k70 made in ‘Great Britain’ which had the treadle table but had a small Pot motor mount on the b as ok of the machine head. It still sews like new. So well engineered of the day , much better than the recent Chinese knock off of today. I put Plastic Grip dip on the bottom of the pressure foot to provide grip on leather with marring leather. Works Great

I I have had mine for 23 years. I replaced the treadle with a standard sewing machine motor Mine has no data plate on it telling what model it is, I had forgotten what needle to use, I think I just found out what to get, Thank you very much

Thanks mate! I need to do a video on some of the creature comfort mods I have done to my machines. Most have provisions to hold phones and or tablets with charger cables routed accordingly.

I hope to get a Singer 29 someday if the price isn't too bad. I have several old Singers, Morses, a old Brother, Pfaff, Juki... . I love working on old sewing machines.

I have this machine without the stand. When sewing shoes the machine will be great but then all of a sudden it won’t pick up the thread from the bobbin and will jump threads for some reason. Is there a particular reason why this could be happening?

I bought one today, but the wheel/crank won't go around 360 degrees. I trying to find out why but so far no joy. The guy I had lined up to take a look at it decided he didn't want to fool with it after I bought it. Grrrr. So I guess it's down to me and KZbin to see if it can be repaired. 😐

The needle bent and hitting. Or, rack and pinion gears on the underside of the arm were taken out and put back in wrong. On some models the shuttle pinion has a non-tooth area that will jam against the middle pinion if not timed right. Don't try to force it.

Singer have these oneline. Just type singer serial decoder. On one site you have to find it yourself and on the other site just type your serial number and it will be found automatically.
