Thank you for this video! I watched you do the stitch selector and you turned screw to get new number… I have been searching to see if I need to turn dial when changing to different number… thanks!!

That's the one I started on that model my mom left me it ran out of bobbin thread and I had to figure out how to get that thread up through there, easy. That was 3 years ago now I've collected 20 machines and repaired it all of them.

I have a Singer 457 machine, and it's not much different than yours. Both the Singer 348 and the 457 machines, and other Singer models like the 357, are user friendly, and great for beginners like me. The control layout is easy to understand, and the foot pedal is wide and comfortable. Also I like the soft whine of the factory installed motor, and the mechanical sounds of the cams, gears, and shafts running. This machine on the video could be recorded with nice audio equipment for sound effects purposes, like in a movie of a tailor shop as clothes are getting made. Your machine has that sound I describe as the motor going "MMMMMMMMM" along with the K-KLACK, K-KLACK, K-KLACK, K-KLACK mechanical sound, just like mine. Before I take a sewing class, I will make sure that won't be made fun of, because I'm a man. Also, I don't want to be put down because of my 1969 Singer sewing machine. I would not mind if the nice lady host in this video taught my sewing class.
