I got this machine when I was first married, 1972. When divorced and moved I left it behind in order to get a newer fancier machine. That was a mistake. This 257 always worked perfectly and never gave me any problems, I wish I had kept it. The newer machine I got to replace it was a POS, never gave a good stitch and was problematic. I finally had to get rid of that one because it cost too much to repair and replaced it with a Bernina 153, which I love. But I am so tempted to buy another 257 because it gave me so much pleasure. Only I have too many machines now to justify.

In threading the machine you missed 2 steps. After the thread has been threaded in the tension area, the thread needs to be looped into that horizontal hook along with the first thread. Also once the thread has been put through the curly Q, the thread needs to be put through that last hook on the needle holder and thread the needle.

Good morning, I have made the timing correct, but the needle when come down struk the metal rotating. I have made something wrong or the only expalation is a wrong needle too long? Tanks in advance for your answer.

you don't have the timing correct. Try again. The hook should come to just above the eye of the needle. Loosen the timing nut and try again

So sorry but it is impossible to watch your video with the camera bonceing all around. I have this machine and would really like to see this. Maybe you can sit the camera some where stable
