Thank you Vedran! 🤗 Ren has always been known for his lyrics. Over 15 years ago, when he was initially discovered at around the age of 19 by a producer and eventually signed by Sony, according to Ren it was because of his lyric writing.

It's wonderful seeing a knowledgeable person genuinely appreciating this man's artistry. I'd like to recommend something Ren released on the channel for his first band called Trick The Fox. The piece is called "A Poem By Ren". It's been up for nearly 13 years. He was, I believe, 22 years old at the time and had moved back home due to the undiagnosed Lyme disease.

Yes!!! Great recommendation! It shows that even at a young age he was a deep thinker ❤

This being your third Ren song is WILD. Most reactors haven't even seen this one. The one who suggested this to you really knew Ren and what to show you.

I am giddy for you... oh my you have no idea.. your world will never be the same ❤. There are no wasted filler songs with Ren. His performance will add value to your experience. Love you listen first and do your homework on the lyrics later. When you are ready, he released 8 chapters telling his back story. Either for personal viewing or reaction. His music defies genres.. he likes Bardcore for his story telling... his joy of music is contagious and shines through even in the worse of times. We are so fortunate to be witnessing him in real time.

He has 100's of songs released, and none are bad... most are brilliant. They are littlerally all good, which is unheard of by any other artist that I am aware of.

Lennard Cohen is one of Ren's big inspirations. Hhe mentions him in The Hunger and uses "Hallelujah" in How to Be Me... check that out, live version with Chinchilla.

You'll appreciate the poetry in the Tale of Jenny and Screech (13 minute video with the 3 tales in the correct order - together they make up a bigger story). Also Seven Sins. Su!cide. Genesis (and the live version). Chalk Outlines and How to be Me with Chinchilla (live versions). Heretic. Blind Eyed - there are lots of versions but my favourite is the MC Sessions one on the Music Crowns channel.

I'm so grateful for your appreciation of Ren. Please believe us that we understand those feelings about him even as you speak them. I'll be 70 in April and the first time I heard Ren I knew he had something very special in this musical artist. I still think his opus was Hi Ren but he catalog is wonderful and capable of many different genres. Often in the same song. We really do adore him and he is a very nice guy on top of it all.

I'm the same way with lyrics... When I was a kid, I would get a new cassette (then later, cds), open it and read the lyrics in the liner notes before I'd even play the music. Ren's lyrics, however, are on a completely different level. As you said, he's a poet that happens to be an amazing singer! 🎤🦇🎤 There's so much Ren to recommend! One of my favorites is Heretic. It's on the same album as Ready for You. Can't wait to continue your Reniverse journey with you! ♥️🦇♥️🦇♥️

Like you im drawn to poetry and depth in lyrics. Rens use of language is like no other musician in the modern age. His ability to layer the language with the music , and the visuals sets him apart from the rest. Love your analysis and interesting commentary and can't wait to see what you nake of The Tales of Jenny and Screech (13 min version) , truly Shakespearean ❤

Funny that you mentioned the late master Cohen, again. I believe that Leonard has been an influence to Ren, he mentions him in some of his lyrics. And there's some subtle nods to his works in other songs, chord structures and such. Check out "Ren x Chinchilla - How to be me" and hear for yourself!

FYI, Ren usually pins his lyrics in the comments. 😊 The poetry of Ren. 💜 Where to go next? I would go back to younger Ren Trick the Fox era) with Four Elements, then slightly later Ren, Patience, Penitence, Insomnia, Depression and Crutch, then Heretic and Precious, then current Ren for Lost All Faith, Seven Sins and the newest one Slaughterhouse.

❤❤❤ Your journey is definitely different than most. We say there is life before Ren and life after you find Ren. It's wonderful. His music, older or new, is always quality. Tome for the Tales next I guess. I feel you will appreciate them. The Tale of Jenny & Screech, along with Violet. Please do the prepared video with all three in one together as that is the most effective way to consume it and get the meaning. People doing it seperately with days or a week between often forget way too much. I saw some other great suggestions by other RENegades as well in comments. Look forward to your reactions & sharing this awesome journey with you.

MACKAY. It’s a song that tells a story …without words. Instrumental. Ren. Piano. It’s really difficult to pick a favorite but if I had to Penitence would be #1. Followed by Seven Sins, after that everything else is tied and easily slips into second place depending on the day.

You got Ren immediately. Sending Hi Ren to everyone is a symptom of being a Renegade, so I'm sorry to tell you that you are now hopelessly afflicted. Welcome. You might be one of the rare ones that get Masochist. He was so angry when he wrote it, but many miss the samsara of it all and think he just isn't using the word right.
@patrickquinlan305617 сағат бұрын
About 99% of Ren's songs are amazing but if you had to nail me down I would choose The Tale of Jenny and Screech (including Violet's Tale). You like poetry? This was the performance that makes many of us call Ren "The Bard". "Minstrel" and "Troubadour" would suffice as well. I get why you compare him to Leonard Cohen. I compare Ren with Shakespeare and Ren is the better of the two.
@ChrissieAB9 сағат бұрын
Based on your comparisons to Leonard Cohen, I think you might enjoy listening to Asaf Avidan, a Ren recommendation to his fans. He reminds me of Cohen lyrically and he also has a unique voice.

Ren does not have fans. Ren has _Renegades_ An interesting choice for your third song. I love this song (I love them all), but most people go to the *Money Games (1,2 & 3) or the Tales of Jenny and Screech* (full 13 minute video with Violet's Tale at the end) They will feed the story telling side of you. *Troubles* would be a good one. It tells the history of his illness. The Official is great and has information Ren clearly wanted the world to see. The acoustic is just sublime. Please do not just skip to the acoustic. Ren put the official out for a reason. Some reactors do both at one time, some a day or so apart. You can use profanity if you like. Many others do. Ren does himself at times. Perhaps just use it judiciously? An introduction to Sam Tompkins would be good. I agree with the suggestion of the Blind Eyed, MC Sessions version followed by *Blind Eyed, Angry Car Park Attendant* Same song by Ren and Sam. MC Sessions is vocally the best. Car park attendant is an experience. Amusing and fun to watch. Once again, both could be the same time or different sittings. Thanks.
