There are many versions of 'Ave Maria'. You are probably thinking of the Schubert composition. This is a new composition by Igor Krutoy at Dimash's request. There are no lyrics and there is only the 'ahh' sound. Dimash is channeling the angels.

Dimash asked Igor Krutoy to write the music for his Ave Maria and this version without is even more pure and beautiful and impactful than any other version with words. Divinity can't be expressed in words, so it's way more suitable to only use these pure frequencies and vibrations that touch you straight in your core of being. You have to have spiritual wisdom to grasp that. I think it's a true masterpiece and the way Dimash performs it, he's on a level of his own. Nobody can pull this off the way he does. Out of the box innovative creativity and expression, doing his own effective transformative thing.

Thanks, MM, for this Dimash reaction. I've been watching a lot of Dimash reactions & performances for the past several years, & it's always cool to see someone else early on in their discovery of this astonishingly talented singer. Not to argue with you (or anyone) about it, but I don't hear any falsetto or whistle tones in this performance. If you want to hear Dimash's falsetto, listen to more or less any of his tributes to Michael Jackson, & if you want to hear an actual Dimash whistle tone, listen to the Gakku performance of "Unforgettable Day". In this song, however, I hear Dimash singing as a full-throated operatic soprano. Check out the stuff I mentioned & then listen to this again, & maybe you'll agree. Again, thanks for this reaction, and welcome to Dimash World. Cheers.

See I agree it doesn't sound like falsetto, but it is. Falsetto can be reinforced and made to sound very pure in tone (almost like a pure head voice for females). And if you can reinforce it like that, then you can connect it up to the whistle voice by compressing into the nose with the falsetto then opening it up into the squeaky sound that is whistle voice.

If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D #4 C #4 and B4 to G #4, G4, G4, D #5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!

Dimash is completely into the song (into the prayer), he IS archangel Gabriel foretelling Maria she will be the mother of the son of God ... the song begins with the softness and tenderness to calm her down, not to be afraid of his amazing presence, then he proceeds to announce God's will (The Annunciation), that she will conceive his son, and unleashes all the power of his voice, and he goes to an overwhelming finale with the sadness of her child's destiny...

Whistle is a very small and specific placement of the vocal folds and is impossible to "connect" with any other part of the voice. In other words, no whistle was used in this performance. Dimash doesn't switch into a whistle placement unless he is going ultra-high (above F#6). The more whistle tone you hear Dimash sing (he doesn't do it very often), you will be able to hear the difference in tonal resonance. It's very distinct.

Hallo MM , schau dir mal bei Wikipedia die Liste an, wieviele Ave Maria Kompositionen es gibt. Da sind dann vielleicht auch mal keine Texte dabei😉. Dieses von Krutoy/Dimash ist eine frei gestaltete an Caccini angelehnte Version. Aber im Prinzip ist es egal, denn es klingt einfach zauberhaft.

Very good reaction. But I think you made a mistake when you talk about his whistle register. All the high notes in the 6th octave are pure head voice, not whistle tone. His whistle register is in the 7th and 8th octaves. I suggest you to listen «Drunken Concubine + Diva Dance», a duet with Li Yugang. You will hear a real whistle tone in the 7th octave.

I do not personally but know what you are saying to be true because I've heard many many vocal coaches explain what you are. Just giving kudos Dear. I amended my comment because I was unable to confirm on Google the information I was provided by several Dears that may or may not have been misinformed. Until or unless I hear from Dimash that the statement below is true I will not assume that rumor to be true. The reason im not just removing the comment entirely is because if a Dear can provide information that can lead me to a link that confirms from Dimash that it is in fact true due to the fact that I did hear from several Dears that I would never assume would out right be deceitful. Short explanation of the no lyrics thing if I am not mistaken due to Dimash's spiritual beliefs it is forbidden out of respect not to speak the name of the mother of Jesus Christ Mary which is what the lyrics to the one you're probably thinking about or know the name of the song translates to Mary's name so I believe that Igor Krutoy the guy usually on piano for Dimash composed a version of the song without the lyrics so that Dimash could still do a very different version of the composition of the song while remaining true to his spiritual beliefs because Dimash does not steer in any direction except the one his moral compass points to. Ok due to the fact that I can't find anything on Google to verify what I said above I am going to conclude that the several Dears that gave this explanation were misinformed. Unless I hear it from Dimash himself I am not going to assume a rumor to be true.
