Henry Lau is as close to a musical genius as you come. There isn't an instrument he can't play. And for that reason he uses the loop station a lot, to showcase his abilities. Did you see my recommendations on the mv reaction? In those you really hear his vocal range! Btw the boy is 33 - can you believe it? 😍

Henry is a member of the legendary Kpop boy group Super Junior-M, as well as a solo artist. He is considered a music genius. He was classically trained in violin and piano since the age of 6 and he had plans to go to college to study classical music. But the year he graduated high school he auditioned for SM Entertainment when they held auditions in Canada and he impressed them so much with his violin dance routine that they signed him right away. (After joining SM and debuting with SJM he did end up going to college. He got a full-ride scholarship to Berklee School of Music in New York and he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in music.) Henry was one of the Kpop industry's very first foreign/non-Korean artists, and he only trained for about a year before he debuted in Super Junior -- and that was only because he needed to learn Korean and become more proficient in Mandarin. He debuted in Korea in 2008, so he has been a famous musician, artist, entertainer, producer, etc. for more than 14 years now. Henry is really good friends with almost everyone in the music and entertainment industry, but he is particularly close with the members of SHINee and EXO because they were all trainees at the same time and he lived with them when they were all trainees. He is also best friends with Jackson Wang from GOT7, Amber Liu from F(X) and Kpop solo artist Eric Nam, among dozens of others. There is almost no one that has met him that doesn't count themselves as one of his good friends. He collects friends from around the world like they are raindrops in a bucket. Just check out his Vlog posts to see who his newest friend is. You would be shocked at the number of famous people he knows. And yet he is one of the kindest and most humble people I know. Henry is Chinese/Taiwanese-Canadian -- his dad is from Hong Kong, his mom is from Taiwan and he was born and raised in Canada -- and he can play almost any instrument. He really is a music genius. Henry speaks 4 languages fluently -- English, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese -- and he speaks numerous other languages moderately well. He works really hard to speak to fans in their native language so he has learned a lot of languages over the past 14+ years. What you just saw was a performance Henry created using what is called a Loop Station. So he records the different sounds and instruments individually on a computer, like you saw him doing at the beginning of the performance, and then when he plays them all together he is able to create the song. It's like being a one-man band. He owns his own independent music production company so he does all the recording, remastering and production himself. Everything you see and hear is 100% Henry. His bother Clinton often acts as his manager and he is the one that is sitting behind the scenes pushing the buttons to record the different sounds, etc. Henry is really famous for his Loop Station performances. His first loop station remix was of the Korean song "Bounce" by Cho Yong-Pil in 2014, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqWTiXiQrsqXkK8, and ever since then he has dozens of original songs, remixed/mashups and covers of songs he has created using a loop station. Henry debuted as a solo artist in 2013 and even before becoming a solo artist he gained a reputation for being an accomplished music producer. He has wrote, composed and produced all his own solo work, as well as numerous songs for other artists, including several Super Junior songs, songs for other Kpop groups and artists, such as EXO's "The Eve," and Korean- and Chinese-drama and movie OSTs, etc. Henry is even the one who taught EXO's Lay how to produce music. Henry is the one that gave Lay the computer program Lay uses to create a lot of the beats and melodies, etc. that he uses when he produces music. You should also check out Henry's song "Radio" from his album Journey, which came out in 2020. He has a Korean version, Mandarin version and an English version of "Radio." But what you really need to see is a live performance of "Radio." Not only is he a musician, but he is a true performer, so all his live performances are designed to engage and entertain the audiences, and he never performs a song the same way twice. To hear the song in Mandarin, check out this performance from a Chinese award show, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZPHc6uGd9KLga8; or to hear Henry's one-man-band solo version live on a Korean music program check out, kzbin.info/www/bejne/faXSZYauqrOlrbs; or to see a 4 cello and rock guitar version check out, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYrPan6BgtZ6kMU; or for an acoustic version check out, kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5yai2uVl9yhqs0. (Like I said, no two performances are ever the same.) "Monster," which is one of my favorite songs from 2018, was his last solo song release under SM. He has an English version of "Monster" MV, a Chinese "Monster" MV and a Korean audio only version of "Monster." You should really check out some of his live performances. I recommend any of his performances from the Korean TV show, Begin Again, which featured singer/songwriter Kpop artists who teamed up to form a group and they spent several weeks busking all over Europe. In Begin Again, not only does the group sing the songs live, but several of the members are also musicians so they perform the music live as well. In Begin Again you will see Suhyun from AKMU perform with Henry and several other famous Kpop solo musicians and singers as part of a group called The Family Band. This group was so popular that The Family Band actually did 2 seasons of the show. And the best part is they busked on the streets all across Ireland, England, Switzerland, Portugal and Hungary, etc., so the people they performed for don't speak Korean, but they always fall in love with The Family Band's performances. And Suhyun and Henry also participated in a third season in 2021 when they traveled around Korea to perform with some of their Family Band members, as well as other well known Kpop musicians and artist. This show showcases real life busking performances with some of the best musicians and singers in the Kpop industry. Check out his performances of "Faded," "Youngblood," "Dance Monkey + Attention," "Believer," etc. You can find all the clips on the BeginAgain KZbin Channel: kzbin.info/door/8WoHUeN-eLynnLKGkwajYQsearch?query=Henry. Now, before someone says "Henry is not a part of Super Junior any more," I want to point out that it has never officially been said that Henry has left Super Junior. Yes, he left SM in 2018 when his contract was up after 10 years, and started his own independent company called Monster Entertainment Group, but that doesn't necessarily mean he left the group. Some true fans are holding out hope that this means he still may collaborate with SJ on projects in the future. (He is still living and working in Korea and he is still in contact with all the SJ members, etc. Plus, Super Junior has their own music label so they are more free to collaborate and work with whomever they want.) After all, the 3 members of Girls' Generation who left SM, recently joined the other members of SNSD as part of their 15th anniversary comeback and they released their song "Forever 1". And even Taecyeon from 2PM left JYP Entertainment, but his new company has partnered with JYP to allow Taecyeon to continue activities with 2PM. After all, Henry is one of Lee SooMan's (SM's) favorite people. (Even though SM may have never allowed Henry to reach his full potential under them, which is part of the reason why he left the company. But I don't think there was any bad blood between them when he left, and he has always been one of SM's most prized artists for the amount of talent he has.) In 2008, when SM announced the addition of Henry and Zhoumi (two Chinese members) to Super Junior's group and the creation of Super Junior-M -- which was designed to create music in Mandarin for the Chinese music industry -- Korean fans protested. Some fans were against adding any new members to Super Junior (which already had 13 members). So the Korean fans forced SM to agree to only make Henry and Zhoumi members of Super Junior's Mandarin sub-unit (they needed more Chinese members to make the Chinese sub-unit work), and they were not allowed to be included in anything to do with the main group of Super Junior. So, when not doing activities with Super Junior-M, Henry and Zhoumi also became some of SM's first members of an active group to go solo. Henry is 33 and he is the youngest member of Super Junior -- he debuted when he was 18 years old. And, not only is he a musician, but he is also known as a really good dancer and for the fact that he can dance while singing and playing the violin all at the same time. He is one of the first and only musicians to combine choreography while playing the violin. In high school he was the leader of the dance club and the orchestra, which is where he got the idea to combine his two passions. Henry's main dance style is popping and locking. EXO's Lay also says Henry was the one who taught him popping and locking when Lay was a trainee. Please see the rest of my comment attached in the reply.

He is also one of the top variety show guests in Korea and China. Everyone wants him on their program because they know he will bring them a lot of ratings. He spends most of his career traveling back and forth from Korea and China on almost a weekly bases because he is involved in so many different projects. He even broke into the U.S. entertainment industry in 2019 when he starred in the Hollywood movie "A Dog's Journey" alongside famous American actors, such as Dennis Quaid. Now as an independant solo artist, Henry has launched his own KZbin Channel and he releases weekly content and has become one of the most popular Kpop artists on KZbin. You should check out the KZbin show that Henry produces called Henry Together where he invites child prodigy musicians and dancers on his show to showcase their talent and to mentor them. On his show he spotlights amazing young artists while creating really cool collaboration performances on the spot with these children. He is a big inspiration to many people and lots of artists and musicians look up to him. If you want to see what type of musical and entertainment genius he is you should watch this clip, kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHLccndoh5Z0psU. It's a clip from a special project/ variety show that Henry did in collaboration with SM Entertainment and Mystic Entertainment, called "The Snowball Project" and on the show Henry was challenged to play multiple instruments from around the world, which he had never seen or played before. And, as you will see, within minutes Henry was able to pick up the instrument, figure out how to play the notes and play a song on the spot. He can also play any song or tune on almost any instrument after hearing only a few notes. But I could go on for days about Henry and I could recommend hundreds of clips and programs that he has been on that would impress you even more. And, on top of all that, he is also a trained chef and can cook as well as a professional. He starred in the Taiwanese movie Final Recipe, where he played a culinary prodigy. The producer wanted him to look as authentic as possible, so Henry spent 3 months training under a famous chef and learned a lot of amazing cooking techniques. He has participated in numerous cooking competitions and cooking based variety shows -- including Master Chef Korea -- and his skill has impressed even professional cooks. He often cooks on variety shows for the cast and crew to show off his hidden cooking talents. Henry's fans are called Strings because of his classical music background and his KZbin channel followers are Henemies (sp.?). If you want to know more about Henry, check out the interview he did on the KZbin channel Korean Englishman. Its a KZbin channel hosted by two British men who have a love for Korean culture and they share their love of everything Korean through interviews with famous Korean celebrities, as well as introduce Korean food and culture to international celebrities and regular people as part of their weekly show on their KZbin channel. As you can see by the way I gush, Henry is my ultimate bias, and Super Junior is one of my bias groups, so sorry if I come off kind of strong with my passion and love. LOL

Henry loves himself a loop station. He may not have the strongest vocals out there, but they are solid enough. Plus he's a whole package musically, so I'm happy his solo career seems to be going well.

If you liked this, I have a few other personal favorites that topped this! Do check out some of his other live “One-take” loop performances, a few links here for your playlist: Youngblood: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6LdqYWqZaZ1a9U (Outdoor “car concert” during the height of the pandemic, from Begin Again season 4 in Korea) How to Love: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGeUnnZpjcd9qtk (TikTok live concert in China) Believer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4bCe3qKapqphJI (he did an amazing episode where the loop elements were impromptu picked up in a steelworks factory, recorded for Begin Again season 4 in Korea) If all that doesn’t knock you over already, consider looking into his dance numbers too (yes the boy can also dance!) 🤩

Thank you for reacting to Henry. I hope you react to more of his works. 🥰🙏 Btw, I noticed you put your Henry reaction vids in a Super Junior playlist. Please put Henry on his own playlist. He left SM since 2018, all of his works after that are completely unrelated to Super Junior/Super Junior M and SM. It's understandable if you're reaction vid was on his old works with them. However, these are of his recent works, so it's's unfair to him who's trying to make a name for himself. He has his own fandom, called Strings or Hennims, who strongly supports his solo career where he is free to do what he loves.
