I think his flatness at the start is his way of conveying a sense of defeat I guess which we all feel when we're about to lose or have lost someone and we just hope to get them back. He's performance here moved more towards the end and it was satisfying instead of just sad actually which I appreciate.

Always thought the beginning was him having the realization, the sadness and pain haven’t hit him yet. Then as it picks up it’s him fully feeling the pain/sadness. Then the ending is his defeat and depression at realizing it is truly over.

I think he's expressing the fact that he would be numb at that point where he's been going through all these complex emotions and feelings about this person leaving and it's been tormenting him for so long that he just doesn't really feel it anymore yet he clearly does but he doesn't know how to express it in an emotional way anymore.

Someone coming to terms with their reality can feel and act numb. And it's not because they don't feel. It's very possible to feel overwhelmed.

His flatness is something I relate to, when I’m sad or down I tend not to show it but I act more just, numb and flat like that, I get to the point that I’m so distraught that I just show no emotion

Beautiful song! My first time hearing this song is from a cover by Cha Eun Woo and I just started sobbing because it was so emotional. So I understand what you're saying about the lack of emotion, although this seems to be more a stylistic choice than lack of skill. In fairness, I already knew who Cha Eun Woo was dedicating the song to (his best friend that died last year) so I was already all choked up before the first note. Let’s fall in love, one more time. To me he’s had this conversation numerous times, and she repeatedly leaves him. I’d eventually lose my emotional response also. Might be what he’s going for, maybe that’s his style. Either way, good video.

I Don think it’s emotionless I feel he is singing it from a defeatist POV. Almost is is he is singing from accepting there is nothing he can do. Naturally you feel numb at this point
