Thank you for the straight forward demo. I had a broken tension assembly and have been waiting for 2 month for repair tech. Saw this video. fixed the assembly my self. It sews like a dream. this was mom and my original machine. Still sews beautifully. circa 1964ish.

Thank you for the Video! I have worked on two 600E's and a 628, there is very little information specifically for the series 600 out in KZbin. I do appreciate your video very much because this tension assembly is similar to others, but it has it own particular differences that the other Singer Tension Units. As I am mostly relying on the videos for the series 400 and 500 for guidance. Thanks again.

This is so very AWSOME!!YOU ROCK! I inherited my 603 when my mother in law passed. I just love her. This helps me understand the machine. Still learning it. ❤

Thank you so much! I have loved my workhorse touch and sew 603 E for years. It was my mother's, and has never failed me, but suddenly I had to set the tension at 9 for everything. This let me disassemble and reassemble the thread tension assembly and get back on track. Awesome video.

I am glad the video helped you solve the problem, so you can focus on your project and not the tension. Happy sewing!

Thank you so much! I have a Singer 675 (German model) and your tension unit is identical. I had been putting the stop washer in at 12 o:clock as instructed in other videos and it never worked for me either. Now, I can take it apart and do it correctly! Also, my numbers weren't lining up properly as your are. Big Thank You!!

Excellent "how-to" communication, a rare quality in this day and age. Am trying to get my aged mother's Singer 603E going again. After going online to find and replace the broken bobbin case with a used one (even used parts are very pricey on this older machine as Singer no longer makes them) I noticed how loose the thread tension assembly was. I will try this!

I wish you would have shown the direction the disks are to face together? Otherwise very goodZ I’ll guess and redo if it doesn’t work.
@md2992 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. At 3:01 and 3:42, you can see which side the discs face, the raised side. If your discs do not have a raised side, then either side will work.

Thank you for this. I got this machine at a garage sale and my tension dial isn't tight, it keeps drifting as I sew. I'm going to take it apart (again) and use your tutorial (again) and make this thing work. You rock the Catskills, thank you so much!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your video 😊 I’m so glad I found it because I was having trouble with my tension, just a question is it normal that when I lift my presser foot the tension on my discs stays the same? I’ve inside and there’s no metal piece connecting the presser foot to the discs, do you have info about this? Thanks 🙏🏼
@md29922 жыл бұрын
When you raise and lower your presser foot your tension and discs should not move. The unit that houses the tension disc's will push in when you lower the presser foot and push out when you raise the presser foot but should not affect the tension. Just make sure the tension dial is screwed in correctly; otherwise, the discs will move.

Great tutorial, do you know how the disassembly and reassembly corrected your problem? Was it simply the cleaning process that improved the function? Thank you again, great video
@md29922 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The machine actually needed to be disassembled and reassembled. The stop washer was in the 12 o'clock position instead of the 6 o'clock position. As a result, the tension dial would turn from 0-4 instead of 0-9. I was able to adjust the tension dial to the correct tension I needed, and I didn't need to pull out 6-8 inches of thread to begin sewing.

Can you please tell me which disc does the thread go in between. Can find the answer to that.
@md2992 Жыл бұрын
Place the thread between the 1st and 2nd disc. If you are sewing with a twin needle, you would place the first thread between discs 2 and 3 and the second thread between discs 1 and 2.

Thanks for this video. I have 2 of these machines a 600 and a 603E I am having problems with the bobbin tension. Do you have any ideas on it. Thanks in advance.
@md29924 жыл бұрын
Diana, I have never had to adjust the tension on the bobbin. There is an adjustment screw on the top of the bobbin casing of the 603. You can either tighten or loosen it. I suggest you take a picture of the current position before making any adjustments.

Hi. I just bought a Singer 603 and have been experiencing a problem where the thread snarls on the underside of the fabric. When I look at the bobbin, several strands of thread are gathered. I read somewhere that sometimes snarling like that might be related to an incorrectly threaded machine. I already learned from your video that I was not threading the thread properly through the check spring- I was not pulling up until I heard a click. What I want to know is, between which of the three disks am I supposed to put the thread? Thank you.
@md29925 жыл бұрын
Sorry for such a late repsonse, you have probably already figured it out. I always thread through discs 1 and 2. If you are using a twin needle, then you will thread between discs 2 and 3. I hope that helps.
@Bebeembop5 жыл бұрын
M D I took it in to the repairman and he says that it was the bobbin. Those bobbins do look like they are of cheap quality even though they are Singer brand bobbins.

Do you have any videos on tips for adjusting. The stitching is not as straight as it should be.

No, I do not have a video on adjusting the stitch. Do you have the correct disc (straight stitch) in the machine?

Inherited a Singer Slant O'Matic and discovered when it's plugged in it runs by itself (w/out pressing presser foot or anything). Help?
@md29923 жыл бұрын
It might be an electrical problem. You would need to have it checked out by a professional sewing machine repair person.
