Freight Train is unequivocally a genuine finger-picking guitar classic by the marvelously talented Elizabeth Cotten. This song is very much worth the reprise. You play and sing it so beautifully, Rebecca. 😻

Rebecca can strip a song to it's bare bones and make you hear it and appreciate it on a much higher level. ❤

Ms. Cotton wrote that historic song in the early 1900’s when she was a child. A beautiful rendition by Rebecca. 🎵🎶☮️

My dad played backing guitar to this tune across the pond with the Chas Mcdevitt skiffle band. Enjoyed listening to your stripped down version....brought back memories!

She rolls in like proud with a sound of that screams like ghost howling. She wanders through the lands, picking up passengers and freight as she does her prowling. She's the train that still makes that clickety clack. She follows wherever they laid down the track. She sings to the silence along her way. She rides heavy, and that's a note for the people that she plays every day. Her burdens are heavy, but that won't slow her down. You can steel her tracks right through town. You can steel the wheels that move her around. But you can't steal what they trained her to do. She's got a history stronger than steel.

Correction. Nothing beats RebL pickin' & a singin' on the back porch. This is nothing short of lovely, as always.

Elizabeth Cotten was an angel. She wrote Freight Train at age 12 and died at 94. She acted as an ambassador between cultures, races and ages. An American icon. RIP.

You probably also know that she took care of Pete Seeger's family. Isn't it always something to discover common people who aren't common at all?
@peterzuehlke Жыл бұрын
think she played a standard right hand guitar left handed, upside down without restringing it. her playing came from somewhere inside.

I wish u would sing more often like this - where its acoustic & your tone is very soft , so so so beautiful. This song really shows off just how good vocally you truly are. If you were to make an (Larkin Poe) original that was like this style vocally , I’d bet that song would end up being a big hit. Just a thought.
