It's actually possible on the flute too! No one really talks about it, but I should try those interval exercises. That would be fun!

@ViktoriousFlutes7 жыл бұрын
Yeah just start blowing and then sing. Start on the Bflat for example. Just avoid the high register for starters. The flute will make a vibrating metallic like sound. You should try it! It's fun!
@martilewis443567 жыл бұрын
It works the same way on the flute. I use it just to improve my flute sound. Play a little, add voice, remove voice and it sounds better than before.
@ViktoriousFlutes7 жыл бұрын
Yes! When you sing through your music and instrument, you prepare yourself for a very good sound! :)

Hungarian folk musicians do sort of this while playing various shepherd's flutes. They are growling and chanting while playing the flute. This yields a unique character and timbre to the sound they produce.

Sarah, this is AWEsome! Thank you. I think I have occasionally (accidentally) done this, now to do it deliberately- oooh so cool! (sorry if my expressions run crazy - I'm almost 64 so I have picked up quite a collection of "expressions" over those years). Anyhow I can hardly wait to share this with my voice teacher! I know she has "played" the recorder, but I think we will find xploring this absolutely great.

Thanks for this video! And here I thought I was just being weird for doing this. Also, I think the head voice rather than the chest voice is used because it is easier to blow when your chest cavity is not vibrating. With your head voice, mostly your sinus cavities are vibrating, leaving your chest to be free for the recorder work. I've had some vocal training, but this is new territory, so I'm just guessing that this is the case.
@Team_Recorder7 жыл бұрын
+mynvision That makes a lot of sense. I'm very happy if people can share their singing knowledge, as I don't know so much technical stuff in that area!

I found a modern piece (female composer and performed by a young woman) here on KZbin a while ago where the recorder player added in some fast double/triple/flutter (can't remember exactly) tonguing to create a really multiphonic sound and it was amazing - but now I can't remember the name of the piece. The performance was the premier of the piece and it was very recent (couple of years at most) if anyone knows it please leave a comment.

@nerdycatgamer3 жыл бұрын
@@syedwasifhussain2866 circular breathing is storing air in your cheeks to push through the instrument while you quickly breathe in through your nose. It can be done on most wind instruments and allows a player to play continuously without breathing

Brilliant ideas for music. I have been playing and learning the chromatic harmonica , and singing a note while playing a note, very doable. You had several examples of recorder+voice pieces, but I haven’t heard this technique used in harmonica pieces, in spite of the fact that using your mouth shape and muting with hands is such a big part of the harmonica sound. I’ll try and figure it out.
