This guy has done it all! And his voice is truly captivating with his dynamic approach, his powerful range and attention to seemingly small details. He's also able to make a lot of different sounds while still keeping it all together. As he demonstrates over and over again, there is sense of abandonment that he conveys with his voice while singing. And while we won't imitate him, we can learn from his 'anything goes' type approach and put a little bit of Leto in our own singing!

Not gonna lie I went to 2 of the monolith shows this and last year and he's lost his voice. He dodged most of the screams and high notes and left them for the audience ( age I guess but theres are singers aka chris cornell that didnt have that decline sooooooo... ) also that's coming from a former 30stm fan boy

It's so nice to hear some positive comments about Jared's amazing singing voice, just one of the many talents he has. I listened to my first 30STM song in December 2016. I was late because I simply hadn't heard of this extraordinary band before. I expect there are others out there like me. Thank you for sharing and making others aware.

Dear Chris Liepe. TLDR: you have inspired and improved me singing. I am grateful, God bless. Subbed. Thank you greatly for posting and even doing these teaching videos. I have been watching them for a while and I have to tell you. You have greatly improved my singing and understanding thereof. Specifically when you were teaching about high notes, you said something to the effect of "speak it first, and that teaches you how it feels" . After that video I was able to sing much higher and cleaner with more power and it felt amazing. Now I mostly sing cuz I just enjoy it, so mostly to myself. But i feel like as i learn this skill i am enriched and music is how I breathe. Thank you very much. I will be applying to your course and subbed as well. God bless you Sir.

Sweet Chris! Thanks for your efforts as usual! ;) Chino Moreno Man? He's not that great live though... but his style is undeniably unique! Also maybe would be interesting to see your idea of why he is inconsistent in his live performance... it's good to learn from mistakes of other singers not just their strengths. From modern singers you might be interested to check Spencer Sotelo (Periphery), Daniel Tompkins (Tesseract). I have a bunch more to recommend. But maybe next time. =)
@kpierce1111
@kpierce1111 4 жыл бұрын
Every time I've seen Chino live he's been great, but I've definitely seen live videos online where he was pretty rough. I'd guess that his technique just isn't that healthy/sustainable on a long tour. But damn, when he's on, he's on.
@saysthemanbehindthemask
@saysthemanbehindthemask 4 жыл бұрын
@@kpierce1111 As I finished writing this it turned out REALLY long, so I am sorry Kyle. I'd appreciate if Chris reads this though might give him some ideas for a video too. Most people say that when they someone live I think their perception changes when they are at the venue. Everything seems better the sound is loud and everything is overwhelming. I am not saying you are lying but people always that when they someone live. THE band was PERFECT WHEN I SAW THEM LIVE. You know I honestly do not expect him to be perfect every show... he's a human after all BUT I do a bunch of research on singers myself and I actually struggle to find good performances of him singing well live. I mean some of the harder songs or hits at least... There are good ones but they are few and far between. Early on he was quite good in the 90's but his material was also more aggressive so it was different not that much singing. Example of more recent stuff: take "You've Seen The Butcher" those long notes in pre-chorus he always dodges them or struggles to deliver. At the same time Deftones is my second favourite band ever. He's a great writer and unique one at that... So it's a strange situation. But no one dares to dis them because so many people love them and say that everything Chino is involved with musically is GOLD... which I kind of understand. Good contrast in vocal ability is when Chino actually tried to sing along Jared Leto in 2010 I believe... it was "The Kill" and when you compare the 2 you can tell who can REALLY SING. And it's not because he didn't know the song I mean I am sure he knew the melody and for someone with his experience it should be a piece of cake but it's not. Also it is a song within his range he hits C4 clean on "Digital Bath" if I recall Correctly in "The Kill" there is maybe D4-D#4 at most BUT not really sung but screamed with Fry and Chino can go way higher with his screams my point is - range is not the issue in this particular case. Sounds like I am dissing but I am not! I know it's a fucking hard job to be a pro singer... But the question comes up if Mr CHRIS LIEPE you read this a question for you: Most vocal coaches say ANYONE CAN LEARN HOW TO SING! IF that's the case why are there quite a few famous singers (including Chino) who can't seem to learn the technique of effortless CLEAN singing first of all, which is THE FOUNDATION of SINGING overall? I am sure they have the resources to do so. So why don't they? I am curious also for myself as I have been singing for a while now (over 15 years) but I can't really get that effortless and consistent... Somedays I feel great and can pull of some challenging stuff but it's not on command whenever I need, so it's a struggle. I am sure there are a bunch of people like myself who never really learn the answer... I'd appreciate it if you answer or even better make a video and expand on this subject.
