Im hearing new resonances when I do your drills, and some other drills then go back and sing the songs I rehearse. Youve set this up to be singing teacher 4 all of America! I am so impressed with you and how by doing your drills we get real progress. Im getting resonance now in the low notes too and it feels good!

Thanks Jeff for your amazing warm ups! In our church, we only do online services for the time being and I have been volunteering my time to record the hymns for the month. Since we have no choir, my voice was horribly out of shape and I was struggling with the higher hymns. After doing your warm ups my voice is much more flexible and it seems easier to hit those high notes with confidence! My choir director and I are both big minor key fans, so I esp. love this! Keep it comin'! If you have any special tips for older singers (senior citizen here :) that would be esp. helpful too...thanks!

Thanks Jeff. Good fun.I used to struggle with the minor third in modern music but not classical music and had a few run ins with an excellent rock guitarist who told me I was missing its subtlety but Icould never getit quiteas he wanted it sung and thisguy was areal perfectionist with a brilliant ear for the slightest mistake, despite being a modern musician. I might try and sing asong he is likes me singing so he cando his fancy guitar stuff, which I can't do and he can't sing snd try not to have yet another argument about "the mininor third". I tried to tellhimit was "just a minor thing" and he got really angry and yelled "To you, but not to me! It comes at the most important part of the song and you refuse to sing it for me... After I've beenwaiting the entire song for just this special bit..." I might try to do it right this time and not discard that song as notfit for performance. Re the solfege, I know people learnto sing and sight read music using this method but I findthe syllables too distracting when learning some new pitch sequence, which, I guess, defeats thewhole purpose of the solfege method. But I like to use it randomly to add nonsense syllables to a melody whose words I don't yet know.I don't think this iswhat the original plan for the Solfege was. I don't findit very useful at all. The pure Italian vowels worked forthe ancient Belcanto exponents.They'll do just fine, for a nobody like me. One can focus onpure pitch andtone, without language syllables getting inthe way of your focus and concentration. So, yeah, I'll leave "Doh, a deer, a female deer ..." snd the rest of that Solfegesinging for the ki dergarten children to enjoy singing to.

Thanks a million for this. One great challenge I've always had with my vocal training has been how easily I get bored. I'm also a goth, so I prefer the minor to begin with. heehee This is fantastic! Off to patreon now. Tak from Copenhagen!

Ooh, was I your first Patreon patron? Cool! Totally surprised and delighted by the extras you have for the $5 level. (Although, do I understand correctly that there are corresponding videos here for the Hasan Dhwani & Yaman scales? I couldn't find them.) I've long had an interest in learning non-Western vocal technique, and honestly hadn't a clue where to start -- all my formal training has been classical. Anyway, looking at your library, I feel as if there's a video corresponding to every concern I have (agility is a *big* one!), and then some. I'm extremely appreciative! I had to leave my teacher in the States, but I'm so happy that I can continue developing on my own. And perhaps if I'm in London, maybe we can arrange for an in person lesson/assessment, if that's something you do. :)

Hello guys I’m actually new to this key , scale thing so if it is E minor scale for singing it is Em F# Gmajor Am Bm Cmajor and Dminor right ?🙏🏻 The key of my song is Eminor and I was singing it in Eminor, Aminor, B minor , GMajor, and CMajor is that right ?
@JeffRolka2 жыл бұрын
Minor key theory is not terribly difficult, but it's not quite what you've written out in your comment. E minor has the same key signature as G major, but also, on need, borrows a d-sharp and c-sharp. There are rules around when to borrow and when not to, but they may or may not pertain to your composition. Also, if you're trying to understand the chords made off of the scale tones in the E natural minor scale, F sharp would be diminished, and D would be major.
@kijim21962 жыл бұрын
